Seeing a building and Googling what it’s for. An article says it’s going to be a restaurant or ammo store, and everyone’s excited that it will bring business and fame to the town for decades to come. The article was something like 17 years ago. The business closed 16.5 years ago.
Being told “there are a million places to hide a body that no one would ever find” and knowing it’s true.
Finding 51 piles of wool with bones inside.
Looking for your trail cam and not remembering if you put it in the giant, open field with no landmarks, the giant, open field with no landmarks, or the giant, open field with no landmarks.
Lots of folks being surprised that there was a backlash when a guy ran over a wolf with a snowmobile, keeping it alive while injured to taunt it, when people do that to coyotes all the time and no one cares.
A cow's ear stuck in a fence. Just the ear.
Seeing last names on houses and recognizing them from people you’ve met in town. Seeing the same names a lot. Realizing there aren’t that many last names in town. Wondering if there’s a problem with incest here.
Hiring 11 different cleaners, as 9 never showed up.
Lowering your standards for employees to “can show up less than 3 hours late while not on Kratom.”
A sign saying a town has a population of “2 ± 4” and trying to imagine the population when it gets down to -2.
A guy comes back to his old hunting cabin to find the furniture rearranged.
Peeling taxidermy in hoarded out abandoned stores.
A pile of hundreds of dead farm animals. The internet really wants to know where it is so they can visit. The locals don’t even consider it interesting.

25 dead horses in a field that belonged a trapper. Most horse skulls are shot wrong. The son of the guy who did it said the father had killed a lot of the horses "outta anger."
The cops never find the trapper's girlfriend's body, but they find his. I take the horses home.
