yall ever seen a grown man smile?

I've 100% the entire game, yes including the post game post game, and I have some thoughts. Holy British Museum Speedrun. I was really really really hoping we would get SOME kind of resolution to the salmonid issue, but the game doesn't really address it at all, or at least in a way that's satisfying. I think the devs knew it too, because it's mentioned that these particular salmonids attacked splatsvillle and looted/destroyed it. And also they might be trying to summon eldritch horrors to end the world? Said horrors apparently make salmonids go crazy BUT if that's true then like. Why do the notes go so into detail about making the salmonids FEEL LIKE PEOPLE? Like you literally cannot ignore that they are people. And like maybe you could kind of excuse it as video game logic bullshit and like honestly I would be able to uncomfortably accept that but. Nintendo designed them to have connections and inspiration from real Indigenous people. You cannot ignore that. I truly truly truly was hoping there would be SOMETHING. Anything that acknowledges Deep Cut's (and esp Shiver damn girl) racism against the salmonids and SOME kind of progress towards recognizing them as people. I guess my only small hope now is that the events of raiders pave way for some kind of Splatoon 4 development for resolving the treatment of salmonids now that the factor apparently making salmonids worldwide more aggressive has been taken care of, that could have been what was making big runs happen so often. But a part of me kind of doubts after this game. And don't get me wrong the gameplay the everything is AMAZING. But you can't ignore the colonialism. I hope it's always in the back of everyone else who is playing too. Anyway. This isn't me trying to say you can't enjoy the game are that you are a bad person for enjoying the game etc; just that you should do so while remaining cognizant of the narrative implantation of what is taking place in the game. If you want to go even further than that, I encourage people to do what I did and donate the same cost of the game to an Indigenous community near you, or ones in need such as Namaygoosisagagun First Nation that has been devastated by wildfires.
