"i'm pretty sure i wasn't even on your radar-" she stops herself from pointing out that might still very well be the case, making a conscious effort of trying to be kinder to herself, "but i just thought you were so cool and confident and talented, and... i don't know. it felt like being in a room with a celebrity or something."

"it's so loud in here- i think i'm going to step out and get some air... do you want to come with me?" it would be so easy to just disappear back into her dorm room and hide out for the rest of the night, but she was trying here, desperate to make more friends, before her current ones surely wound up getting sick of her. "i think i heard they have an apple cider booth out there. i don't knwo about you, but i could use a cup. and maybe a slice of pumpkin bread."

ever since the embarrassing, very public confrontation with rachel, tina had been making a point of avoiding blaine. how much had he heard? how much had he already been aware of? were her feelings for him that obvious? they must be, if even rachel had managed to pick up on them. still, despite everything, blaine was still her friend above anything else, and she really, really hated the idea of losing that. way more than the heartbreak and humiliation she knew she was destined to face if that dreaded topic ever came up. "do you want to play one of the games?" if they kept busy, distracted by activities, maybe she could put off the chance of the growing elephant in the room getting pointed out. "ring toss? or... um... i think they have a balloon darts one. how's your aim?"
Daphne snorted. “You say that now, but wait ‘til someone writes a synth-pop ballad about your ‘cult-worthy energy’ and you have to hear it during a campus open mic. Then we’ll talk.” She tossed a piece of popcorn into her mouth, eyes still flicking to the screen but not missing the smile Tina tried to hide.
At Tina’s slip, Daphne raised an eyebrow but didn’t tease—at least not much. “You mean model like ‘helpful friend’ or model like ‘pose dramatically in a cursed flower crown’? Because either way, I’m flattered.” Her voice softened slightly. “And yeah, anytime. Next project, you let me know.”
The movie darkened, tension crawling in, and Daphne leaned in just enough to nudge Tina’s elbow with hers. “By the way, New York definitely has cults. They just wear vintage jackets and charge for sound baths. But I’ve got you. Promise.”
"you think they'd do that for me?" tina's tone makes it clear her positioning on the idea is far more romanticized than it'd probably actually feel in reality, but the thought of someone feeling that much about her to be inspired to write a whole song? it sounded really nice.
"well, both, i think? but mostly because i don't have the money or space in my room for a mannequin." that, and, of course, daphne looked way prettier than any mannequin ever could.
"...and you know this... how?" does she want to know? was it a dangerous question to ask? maybe. but also a little exciting. "like matching jackets, or just vintage ones in general? because i have a vintage jacket in my wardrobe - it used to be my mom's, and i'm pretty much positive she was never in a cult. ...unless a sorority counts."

"a twofer promise? wow, you must really mean it." tina extends her pinky finger towards brittany, knowing the other woman wouldn't swear on her beloved cat if she wasn't sincere. besides- even if she wasn't, and went and told the entire school what she was planning on performing that evening, it wouldn't really matter anyway. the show would still go on. "you're familiar with wicked, right?" the odds that someone attending this school - especially with the release of the first film last year - didn't would be pretty shocking to her, but if anyone was full of surprises it was brittany.
In the spirit of the highly anticipated and rapidly approaching Fall Festival, I wanted to discuss the most exciting event that I have spotted - the COSTUME CONTEST. Because, HELLO? Costume contest? A themed costume contest? Immediately, my heart rate has quadrupled. I'm ASTOUNDED.
My question is simple - what IS the theme? How are we interpreting the theme? I've been off-campus for the past week so my access to any gossip, plans or ideas has been severely restricted. I'm assuming the costumes are musical theatre related? What are your costume plans?
