Writing and Prompts and Such

Still a work in progress, but these are my snippets and a link to my prompts!

The crowd tittered in front of City Hall. By the time the hero arrived, they were too late to stop the dozens of news cameras focused on the new addition to the building.

"Oh geez," the hero groaned, dragging a hand across their face. "Not again!"

"Untie me." The hero strained against the chains, sweat beading on their face.

"Oh, but I'm such a big fan." The villain smiled, and the hero shuddered. "Seen all your stuff."

The hero had been kidnapped before, but never with this many blades decorating the walls. They swallowed. Dryly. "Glad you're such a fan."

"The minimalist talk you gave?" The villain gave a chefs kiss. "Molto bene. Really made me think." He trailed a thoughtful hand over his array of tools.

The hero shook as the villain turned to face them, chosen blade in hand.

The villain swallowed. “I... I love (Detective). At least,” they frowned, “I think I do? Maybe it’s just affection or admiration? No, if I’m questioning it, then it’s love. Right?” They paused. “Maybe it’s platonic.”

This had been an ongoing line of conversation. For the past few hours. And weeks before that.

"Where's V?" The hero asked as she scanned the rooftop, eyes darting back to the well-dressed man before her.

He sat down his briefcase. "V is unavailable, so I am his representative. V is breaking up with you."

"What?" The hero wasn't sure she'd heard right.

"V thinks you're amazing and has cherished every moment together, but cannot invest in a relationship right now." The man pursed his lips. "It's not you - it's him."

"...He's my nemesis." The hero said. "We never dated."

"He said you might say that. If thats how you want to process this, go ahead."

"I'm serious." The hero didn't know what game the villain was pulling, but she wasn't going to play along. "We've never been together."

The man paused. "Never? Not even a hookup?"

"If you were really from V, you'd know that heroes and villains don't mix. Not even in bed." She slid a step back and readied a glare. "You're a reporter."

The hero sneered at the begging figure. "Sorry Chief, but your guys are too effective. Supervillains are an endangered breed now."

Dear Mayor,

I hope you are doing well. I write with a list of completely voluntary requests for a better tomorrow.

Please supply banks and my favourite museums with better locks. This is just embarrassing for you.

Municipal heroes need a different dress code from office workers. No more suits and ties - only spandex and skin please ;).

Current zoning does not allow forboding towers with spikes in suburbs.

No pressure intended - if you don't value your teeth, feet, or nails, feel free to ignore this!

“Listen, you all seem lovely-” The hero swallowed as the cutlass slashed near their face. Wonderful. “I’m looking for a… rival of mine. Have you seen them?”

In response, the closest pirate sneered and pulled out a second cutlass. The hero sighed. The combination of the rocking boat and the pirates’ stench was already troubling enough.

“Trust me,” the hero said with a casual half step back. “You really don’t want this guy on your ship. I’ll leave as soon as I find him.”

One of the younger pirates started setting up the plank.

Long time no post - it’s been a few years.

When I started my blog, I wanted to get to 500 original prompts. This was always my goal to complete before writing a book, but life got in the way and I ended at 432.

I’m writing another 68 prompts to get to 500 prompts on Tumblr, and will be setting them up to post one a day. I know most of my original followers and writing friends have moved on, and I don’t expect strong engagement.

However, I’ve had a few years for creative juices to build and like to think that I’m a better writer than when I left.
