...any space will do
So I reduce to using my coffee table as my intern work space. Fortunately for me its one of those tables that has a table top riser so I can lift it to an acceptable height and pull my chair up to it. This is an memory album, made with Graphic 45: Communique. This is my 2nd album using this same design paper.

People of Tumblr, we’re throwing up the Bat Signal.
Though this Administration has vowed today to sign an executive order that would end the separation of families at the border stemming from its “zero tolerance” policy, we must continue to apply pressure and do our part. Families should have never been separated in the first place.
Here are five ways that you can help:
1. Call your Senator and let them know that immigration reform is still needed. Call the Senate switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask for your Senator’s office.
2. Donate to organizations that are providing support to immigrant families being held in detention centers all over the country:
The Florence Immigration Project - The Florence Project is providing free legal and social services to migrants being detained in Arizona.
The Texas Civil Rights Project - Lawyers in Texas have banned together to fight for “equality and justice in and out of the courts.”
ACLU of Texas Border Rights Center
RAICES Bond Fund - This fund provides money to release parents from detention centers so they can look for their kids.
CARA Family Detention Pro Bono Project - CARA provides legal representation for families in detention centers.
KIND - Kids In Need of Defense (KIND) provides legal representation for unaccompanied minors in detention centers. They’ve also provided other ways for you to help oppose family separation here.
CARA Pro Bono Project - Help alleviate the cost of housing for volunteer lawyers, as well as sending coloring books to those children in detention centers.
Refugee Caravan - Donate what you can to help detained immigrants make phone calls to their families and lawyers.
3. Contact the Immigration Justice Campaign if you, or someone you know, are fluent in Spanish and can assists lawyers at the border over the phone as an interpreter.
4. Contact Northwest Immigrant Rights Project and volunteer your services as a Spanish-speaking interpreter or as a lawyer for those parents who have been sent to the state of Washington without their children.
5. If you’re a lawyer, law student, paralegal or Spanish-speaking interpreter, contact the Dilley Pro Bono Project for a week-long shift as a volunteer in Texas.
Let’s do what we can to right this wrong because children and families should never have to suffer these kinds of irreparable trauma.

Not enough wall space...
When I move into a place I love to hang my favorite pieces of art, my favorite clock or photographs and what I love even more than that is, wall space! My new home lacks that very much. Notice the ceiling, the owner is in the process of replacing the electrical. He is also doing the ceiling but that will come, eventually, I hope. So here we are, the painting on the wall waaaaay down there, is one of my pieces. A little mixed media piece. I will post some more pictures of my work below. I’m starting to develop a things for clocks. I have no idea why, I just am.
It measures 30 in x 36 in
Slowly but surely, its coming together
Well its a week later and for the most part my home still looks like a bomb went off in the livingroom. There really isn’t anything organised in there other than the couches, tables , tv and cabinet. Good luck finding the furniture because there is so much crap on it lol. I unpacked my Coca Cola collection and put it all in the cabinet. I tried to organise it but most likely will go back later on and do it again. I just wanted to get what I could out of the room because I really need to get my craft room set up, I have a lot of work to do, craft fair season is starting soon and I have nothing to exhibit.
Since I moved in to my new home, for the most part its been a running theme of what can go wrong, will go wrong. I had ordered curtains for the livingroom window. Black out curtains of course. But I ordered them off Amazon and they weren’t flattering when hung. Crooked seams, The material had been pulled and that caused it to hang wavy, flimsy like. So I sent them back and ordered a better quality, with proper seams and thermal backing, much better choice. They arrived today, and are now hung, they will look much better when they relax. So as well as trying to get unpacked and settled in I’ve been cleaning.Â
The owner is inexperienced in renting out his basement suite, but he’s a pretty nice guy, willing to make it liveable for me and fix the problems. The prior tenant left the suite in quite a bad state. Nothing had been cleaned and the repairs we are facing now could have been avoided if the prior tenant had notified the owner about them. I spent the better part of the first week in my new home cleaning the ceramic tiles on the kitchen floor.  The floor was pretty bad, I don’t think it was ever washed. The grouts were pretty much black.  I had never tried cleaning a ceramic tile floor, so I started with a hard bristled scrub brush. After I had done about a 1/3 of the floor, it was still not coming clean. I vaguely remember something about baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. So I went to my comp and clicked on the Youtube icon, put in search and watched a couple videos on it. One was very informative from Clean My Space
So after watching the video and getting the info I needed, I  had a problem, a minor set back. I had baking soda, but no hydrogen peroxide. So looking through the cupboards I remembered i had a large bottle of lemon juice in the fridge. So I thought, why not, give it a shot, whats the worst that can happen. So following the suggestions on the video, I subbed the hydrogen peroxide with the lemon juice. So I set to work, sprinkled baking soda on the grouts in a 2 foot space and then added the lemon juice, and of course there was a reaction and it fizzed for about a minute. I let it sit for about 15 min. Did I mention that its incredibly hot here, nothing stay wet for long. So when I returned to give it a scrub and a wash, the entire area had dried. So I grabbed my scrub brush and the bucket of water and went to work to scrub it some more and get the grit out of the crevices. To my surprise it actually worked. But there’s a downside, the floor now was incredibly sticky and it took quite a while to make it unsticky. so after all that I decided to wait till the next day and pick up some hydrogen peroxide.
It took a few days to accomplish what I set out to do with the kitchen floor, but I achieved it. If it wasn’t so hot and me knee cooperated with me it would have been done a lot sooner. Baking soda & hydrogen peroxide is the best solution to the problem of dirty grouts. Using this combination turned my grungy kitchen floor into it original almost new ceramic floor. The next thing is replacing the counter tops & putting in the new sink. I’m pretty excited about that. Then it will be the new board shelving above the sink for dishes. It’s a busy month, but want it get this all finished up, so I can get back to my projects…Christmas is coming!!
