as image of altrouge brunestud on the wiki, which reached my ears through the same maid being presented to me as altrouge in a discord server, and I was like, it would be fucking whack for the first ever image of altrouge to be of her in a maid outfit but not out of the realm of possibility for the number one maid lover takashi takeuchi, I have to look deeper into this
turns out the illustration in question comes from a set of books on the history of maid culture in japan (which took six years of research apparently!), and they asked number one maid lover takashi takeuchi to draw promotional images for it. the publisher’s own website confirms that the purple maid is a whole new girl drawn specifically for the book, although kohaku and hisui being on the cover for the second volume explains how someone might come to the conclusion that the other girl must also be from tsukihime somehow.
the maid has already been removed from altrouge’s page but moral of the story is factcheck your shit i guess, and also follow your dreams because according to the publisher this author has been a leading researcher on british-style maids for 17 years as of this book’s publication in 2017 which considering tsukihime’s release in 2000 means this guy most likely got into maids through tsukihime and then got the artist of his favourite vn to draw maids for his book one and a half decades later
