NOW OR NEVER!

willie was the middle kid of three. a younger brother who was cherished beyond belief and an older sister who was the golden star. but then comes them, the middle kid. the one who either constantly found themselves in trouble or was ignored in favor of the other two. he didn't resent his sibings for that, he resented their parents more then anything.

but it wasn't like she didn't try to be the good kid that they wanted, genuinely trying to stick to their self and not get in trouble. but sneaking out to skateboard didn't always lead you to meet the kindest people nor did staying at the back of every classroom. 

it took three years for willie to even seem to get the courage to tell his parents, his best friend daisy knew the whole time. the only person she trusted more than anything in the whole wide world. but time never seemed to be kind to them, especially not in the 80's.

it's not like he expected a good reaction. sure, some part of them hoped that their parents would magically accept them for liking boys. but she was never that foolish to fully hold onto that belief. some of the words that came out of their mouths were expected and common, others not so much.

''you're such a disappointment.'' ''you're a failure as a son.'' ''we'll get you help.'' ''we'll fix you.'' ''you're useless. so fucking useless.'' ''you've never been our son but this is just a new low.'' ''did you ruin your brother too?'' ''i don't love you. i hate you. i've always hated you.'' ''why couldn't you just be good for once in your fucking life?''

if she didn't run now, who the fuck knows what tomorrow would be bring? what their parents could do to them. where they could take them. so she did what she did best and that was skate. within 5 minutes after that conversation, he had already climbed out the window and skated away.
