i think backrooms did have a lot to do with race actually. clark serving mary in his wife’s place dinner that they never ate together versus his own death from a version of himself unable to move on literally eating him alive and dragging his corpse in pursuit of mary as the tipping point into the ledge of conception over personhood-- "it's okay, she said we don't have to change" as a reflection of his very real character faults but remaining personhood that is never seen in him, all to be consumed by how he is seen. mary isn’t someone who was his friend or understood him entirely, she has her own wrong views of him and in a great part due to societal structure they both live under. Neither protagonist in this film was entirely virtuous but neither were bad people. but in the end the real clark is dead and all that there is is the conglomerate or what she and the others in his life thought of clark as their patient/employer. it’s a story overall about mental health but it’s not not carrying messages of racial inequality and misogyny in how that is the social status quo especially under capitalism

has anyone noticed that after the porn ban of 2018 tumblr was essentially killed from the mainstream and everyone flocked to other social media sites like twitter and meta. then those sites got enshittified to where twitter became Nazi Central and meta sites had an entire meme around getting “zucced” aka mark zuckerberg himself would ban you for saying a no-no word like fuck. and then the mainstream shifted to tiktok where infamous toddlerspeak sentences like “he got unalived by a pew pew” were born because if you once again say a no-no word like kill or gun or any other word that isn’t corporate i mean kid friendly then the algorithm will bury your post into the ground. and somehow we’ve come full circle and tumblr is now the most bearable social media site because although we can’t have female presenting nipples we can at least talk to each other like adults. has anyone noticed that at all or is it just me and the flaming skull
