People have been saying stuff like BTS isn't eligible or they can submit for any category they like but the truth is the minute people think about the new award category even a little, you realise it's got a bunch of issues

They've tried to distinguish it by language instead of the race of the people singing (because that would be crazy), but we know they're never going to give an award to anyone white who sings in Korean so the race definitely matters right? And what constitutes Asian? They didn't mention SEA countries so are they included or not? Is Russia? There's a bunch of Asian countries that have English as an official language but I guess that's not Asian enough for the Grammy's to consider for this award. Mind you there's never going to be a euro pop Grammy category despite Europe having a bunch of non-English languages which would work the exact same way. So why do Europeans not have their own category but Asians do? What could possibly be the difference hmm?

It's just all double standards. BTS may have made English songs to gain a bigger audience but the concept of them not being Asian enough for an Asian Grammy is still pretty wild. Grammy's will give a best new artist for someone who's been putting out music for at least 8 years under a major label so let's not pretend they don't mind doing random bullshit when they want to. Alternatively they could've just been frank that they don't think BTS deserve the main prizes but then they wouldn't be able to get BTS to perform and bring in viewers for them 😢 Really they don't want to give BTS anything but they were too greedy to let them be. Glad BTS just bowed out gracefully from that whole headache.

(Grammy's should've just been frank and said my bad guys we're actually just a local show for Americans and introduced some international categories for non-Americans but they like pretending they're some international award show even though their understanding of "international" music is laughable. I guess having international as a category wouldn't let them segregate black artists though so they still needed "genre" based awards anyway)

BTS probably still could’ve submitted to that category with another song than SWIM and they probably would’ve won that category. Or them not winning also could’ve been another way to humiliate them, I’ve seen some questionable stuff from people involved in the creation of this new category.

But yes it’s nothing new, everything is just racism disguised as inclusivity.

Also some people are being dense on purpose because no matter if you like them or not BTS should’ve been at least nominated in main categories.

Whether people like it or not, BTS dismissing that category will make any other kpop group submiting look bad. And why should they be responsible for this?Everyone is free to submit or not. If other groups don’t care about this category’s implications or if the possibility of winning a grammy no matter what doesn’t bother them, then it’s on them.

BTS is the only kpop group who’s competing with the biggest artists in the world so I think it’s unfair to ask them to be humiliated just for other kpop groups to be acknowledged by the grammys or for them to avoid backlash is they want to submit. I think BTS already did enough for kpop.

Also I don’t know much about who is eligible in that asian pop category but why is everyone so sure it’s a kpop group who’s gonna win?

And yeah, obviously the company doesn't decide line distribution based on who's the best singer. I agree with that last anon. Jin's nasal tone can be hard to listen to sometimes, and they rely heavily on autotune and vocal effects for V's parts when his voice doesn't suit certain songs. Sometimes it's processed so much that I can barely recognize his voice. I still can't believe both of them have more lines than Jimin.

The truth is, they used Jimin to get attention and stand out, and now they've pushed him to the side.

I don’t think it’s inherently wrong to have a different preference about his voice but using this to find a logical explanation as to why he didn’t get more lines in this album is weird when the reason is just that they favor another member.

Jimin is a star really, the best performer in the group with his voice being the watermark of BTS songs, why would anyone even try to justify their decision to sideline him?

I don’t think there’s anything wrong for you to prefer the way he sounded before but in my opinion line distribution got nothing to do with how the members voices sound. I’m sorry I’m repeating myself but I feel like it’s a bit naive to think it’s how things work. Or that it’s the main explanation (and if it was actually the case then Jin and Th shouldn’t get this many lines).

I don’t see how you think one opinion is entitlement but another one isn’t, considering no fan actually knows them for real or knows who they’re closest with. The notion that the member who's most "stable" is being promoted by Hybe is a fiction that's mostly been built by JK's fans as a justification because even they couldn't come up with any rational reason why JK is promoted so much more than any other member. Certainly Hybe hasn't said this as far as I know though I'm willing to be corrected if I'm off the mark on this. Also neither Hybe nor Bighit music follow this criteria anywhere else in any other group. Forget Hybe, before I listened to BTS and came into this fandom, I've never heard of "stability" being cited as a reason an artist was on top or being promoted. Beautiful, powerful vocals like Adele or Ariana Grande? Yes Stability? Nope. They have to use the flimsy moniker of stability because JK doesn't have powerful vocals like afore mentioned artists or even particularly great live vocals recently

Yes it’s some bullshit everyone came up with to explain the clear disparity in promo and in lines distributions between Jk and the other members. A label reason to promote someone isn’t cause they have better vocal stability. It’s also not the reason why he gets most of the lines or screen time.

I don’t think they’re giving Jk most of the lines cause he’s the most stable, I think they wanted him to be the center and the main vocalist from the beginning so they trained him accordingly. They even flew him to the US to work on his dancing as well. If they trained him the most it’s not surprising he’s the most stable (maybe he had predispositions as well idk but it’s not the point).

It’s the same thing as when people explain that he deserves to get better promo cause he has better results (if they ignore Jimin). But it’s not how it works, he has better results cause he’s promoted the most, not the other way around. Just like he’s the most stable cause he probably was the most trained.

Jimin improving his vocals doesn’t actually matter cause it was never about this. Otherwise how do you explain he got more lines in previous albums even though he’s now better vocally. They saw Jimin had potential with his voice but they never trained him properly cause he was never meant to be pushed as a vocalist. It’s also one of the reasons why I said it feels like they used him. They didn’t even seem to care about him possibly damaging his voice but they still gave him the highest parts without properly training him.

Now that they probably think they don’t need to prove themselves anymore it feels like they’re trying to make the group look like what was originally planned. Or at least it feels like that to me. Correct me if i’m wrong but Th was getting vocal training with Jk, idk about Jin though. They trained for a long time without Jimin and we know some people, including Bsh didn’t necessarily want him in the group at first.

Oh I didn’t even know there was an auction. I just checked and it’s at $14k now I think, I know it’s Jimin but it’s crazy for a jersey. At least the money will go to charity. Jimin looked great in it.

Whether you think the ship in kpop stands for friendship or relationship, or think that Jimin plays into it, that doesn't mean shippers get to lie, harass and minimise him. It's just a form of victim blaming to act like him having skinship with some of the members means he deserves the frankly unhinged behaviour he and the people close to him experience from them. I’m not expecting anything from people online, no matter the fandom, but Armys thinking they’re morally superior is a joke. They hate every other kpop idol regardless of their closeness with BTS. Their first reaction to any dating rumor is to harass women even though there’s a big chance of them actually being involved with the members. And then they come around telling solos BTS will hate them for not supporting every member or for hating their friends. Can’t they see how stupid they sound? Or do they think BTS only love or care for each other and no one else? Or that only BTS are deserving of basic respect?
