everybody feels the wind blow

I think my favorite movie/tv trope is when two or more characters are having a conversation in the foreground that is insanely boring and/or difficult to follow so your eye naturally shifts to the background where the real action (usually peak physical comedy) is happening. bonus points if it’s worth rewinding to make sure you didn’t miss any of that background action.

sometimes I think about the fact that when my grandpa was a teenager it took two days for the doctor to come out to the farm to see his dying father and today I can order a squeaky toy for my dog and have it delivered to my front door in less than 12 hours. truly wild.
