everybody feels the wind blow

the thing about working in vetmed that I wish everyone understood is that sometimes it’s fun and cute and a 5-year-old telling you about her new puppy and sometimes it’s three grown women crying on the floor because all the knowledge and care and even unconditional love couldn’t save a 4-year-old dog whose cancer was eating him alive from the inside out. and every person in this field goes to work every day not knowing which of those things might happen that day. and it’s really fucking hard sometimes.

I think my favorite movie/tv trope is when two or more characters are having a conversation in the foreground that is insanely boring and/or difficult to follow so your eye naturally shifts to the background where the real action (usually peak physical comedy) is happening. bonus points if it’s worth rewinding to make sure you didn’t miss any of that background action.
