you stared down at your phone before letting out a frustrated sigh and falling backward onto the plush hotel bed. you'd been mindlessly scrolling through Instagram to kill time while charles finished his media duties when the deuxmoi post caught your eye. normally, you would've kept scrolling because you hated giving gossip accounts the attention they craved but this time though, the post made your stomach drop. they'd found leo monte-carlo.
you immediately texted charles: can you come back to the hotel as soon as you're done please?
the 40 minutes that followed felt closer to 4 hours. every notification that appeared on your screen that wasn't charles only made the knot in your stomach tighten. fans were already dissecting the post, comparing credits, looking for clues and building theories.
by the time the hotel room door finally opened, you were halfway through reading a thread debunking leo being a real person. charles stepped inside carrying a bouquet of flowers with a tired but genuine smile on his face. under normal circumstances, the sight would've melted you instantly but today, all you could manage was a weak smile.
his expression shifted immediately, "what is it, mon amour?"
without a word, you held out your phone. charles set the flowers down and sat beside you on the couch, taking the device from your hand. the room was silent as he read through the post and the hundreds of comments underneath it. when he finally looked up, he sighed softly.
"they know about leo," you said, dragging a hand through your hair. "not completely but close enough."
charles turned toward you, "they're guessing."
"they're guessing correctly."
"one person is," he corrected, "and nobody seems convinced."
you stared at him, "charles, it's only a matter of time before they are!"
he reached for your hand and gently pulled you onto his lap. you settled there automatically, one leg on either side of him as his hands found your waist.
"your... well.. our dog's name is leo," you reminded him.
"yes, sweetheart. i'm aware."
"and you're from monaco."
you groaned, dropping your forehead against his shoulder. "who would even tell them? so few people know."
that was the part you couldn't stop thinking about. the name had been carefully planned from the beginning. your managers and some ferrari folks knew, a handful of label executives knew and a few trusted friends knew. the list was small enough that you could practically count everyone on both hands.
charles rubbed his thumb against your side and you raised your head as he began to speak. "im sure they receive thousands of anonymous tips every day. maybe someone recognized the connection or maybe somebody overheard something. i dont know maybe paperwork ended up in the wrong hands or maybe they're just completely guessing." he continued rubbing your side with his thumb, "they even say it's anonymous. those accounts love creating drama when they don't have actual proof."
charles squeezed your waist reassuringly, "ok.... then we just deal with it.
a small smile tugged at his lips, "it is a very good solution."
you rolled your eyes but despite yourself, some of the tension eased from your shoulders.
"the album isn't even out yet," he reminded. "nobody has proof and even if they keep talking, people obsess over things for 2 days before finding something new." his calmness was almost infuriating, "the songs are good, no?" he asked gently.
"and you're proud of them?"
"and I'm proud of them too," his gaze narrowed in on your lips. "i'm proud of what we made together."
the sincerity in his voice made your chest ache as charles lifted your hand and pressed a kiss to your knuckles. "so everything else is just noise," he continued as he kissed your cheek. "it doesn't change our relationship or how much I love you."
another kiss landed just below your jaw as he said, "it doesn't change how proud I am of you." then he cupped your face and kissed you gently, "and it doesn't change how proud I am to be yours."
for a moment, all the anxiety that had been building inside you seemed to fade away. outside this hotel room, the internet was spiraling. fans were building theories and tiktok detectives were probably opening 16 tabs and constructing entire conspiracy boards. but sitting here with charles, none of it felt quite so overwhelming. maybe because he genuinely wasn't worried and maybe because he was right.
"i love you," you whispered, resting your forehead against his.
a grin spread across his face, "i'm so madly in love with you, y/n." you laughed softly as he continued, "and if people discover I helped write your love songs?" he gently stroked your cheek. "I am more than happy to take the credit."
wrapping your arms around his neck, you buried your face against him as he stood from the couch, carrying you effortlessly toward the bed and for the first time since seeing the post, the knot in your stomach disappeared.

you pulled the hoodie over your head and gave him your full attention, "charles?"
he took a breath but still wouldn't meet your eyes as he flopped onto the dressing room couch. "I know for the last three years we've been doing the whole tom and zendaya thing," he said with a small, nervous smile. "sneaking around, separate cars, separate entrances, pretending we're just friends whenever someone points a camera at us."
you laughed softly at the accuracy of it but the expression on his face told you this wasn't really a joke.
his voice grew quieter, "tonight changed something for me."
you sat down beside him on the couch, close enough that your knees touched, "what do you mean?"

you felt your eyes sting as he went on, "you're my partner. my favorite person in the whole world. you're the mother of my dog for goodness sake," he added, making you laugh through the tears gathering in your eyes. "you're my home and i know you're one of the biggest pop stars in the world," he continued. " and i know going public would create headlines and speculation and probably a lot of chaos but I can't stand sitting in hotel rooms instead of a house we've built together watching everyone wonder who leo monte-carlo is while pretending I have nothing to do with the music that means so much to me."

user16: i've received SO many requests to explain why i think charles leclerc is secretly credited as a writer, pianist, and producer on y/n's newest album AND why i think they've been dating for years... buckle up because this is going to be LONG. first of all, this isn't based on one thing. it's based on like fifty tiny things that on their own mean nothing but together??? i don't think they're coincidences anymore.
so to start... y/n has been around the f1 paddock for YEARS (see paddock pic from last year). she and lando became friends after she attended a grand prix in 2019 and because of lando she obviously became close with oscar too. over the years she's been photographed at countless races, after parties, charity events and random paddock moments. she's clearly friends with a lot of the grid. BUT... while lando and oscar are obviously the drivers she's photographed with the most, the next one is charles and before anyone says "well they're just friends"... look at slide 2. i'm fully convinced that's them kissing during lando's miami 2024 win celebrations. yes it's blurry. yes i know you can't see faces. yes i am still choosing to believe it.
sooooo charles and y/n/n were supposedly photographed kissing in a miami club in 2024 (pls just trust me on this one) and then...nothing..... or at least that's what everyone thinks!!!! because i actually think we've been getting crumbs for at least TWO YEARS😭
remember last year when charles randomly uploaded that video of himself playing piano? at the time everyone thought it was just him messing around because, you know, he plays piano. except... go back and listen to it. then go listen to the opening of honeybee. tell me those aren't super similar and before anyone says i'm reaching... read the caption. he captioned it "doux comme le miel" which literally translates to "sweet like honey." the song in question is called HONEYBEE. that song wasn't released until THIS YEAR so why was he seemingly playing it almost a year before it came out? either he's some piano mastermind who can see the future or he already knew the song
NOW... fast forward to the deuxmoi post. they receive a tip saying we should all be paying attention to the album credits because "leo monte-carlo" isn't who people think they are. naturally i start digging because i love y/n/n so im personally invested and ive found that leo monte-carlo... doesn't... exist
there are ZERO producer credits before this album. ZERO songwriter credits. no publishing history. no interviews. no instagram. no twitter. no tiktok. no linkedin. no website. literally nothing. it's like this person materialized solely to work on y/n's album.
now let's talk about the name. charles got a dog last year. his name? LEO. where does charles live? monte-carlo.
i'm sorry but if i wanted to make up a fake producer name while making it painfully obvious it was me... i would probably call myself leo monte-carlo too 😭
AND THEN...there's the actual music. this album has SO much piano. far more than y/n's previous albums. who on this earth do we know that is obsessed with the piano? exactly. not to mention multiple songs feature really intricate piano progressions that honestly sound like something charles would write. i'm not saying he's mozart... i'm just saying go watch literally any of his piano videos and then listen to this album.
NEXT!! since the deuxmoi post, i've noticed something weird. oscar. lando. conan gray. tate mcrae. arthur leclerc. all of them have left comments on y/n's posts that suddenly feel... loaded. normally i wouldn't think anything of it because lando, oscar, conan and tate practically live in her comment section BUT arthur?? arthur has never commented before but suddenly he's making jokes that seem to imply she has a boyfriend?? combined with lando randomly mentioning "leo." combined with oscar making weird comments. combined with ferrari admin using lyrics as interview questions. combined with pierre suddenly becoming y/n's biggest fan in the vip section. IT FEELS LIKE EVERYONE KNOWS SOMETHING.
AND FINALLY!!!! the concert. charles attended opening night of the tour with pierre and kika. fans who were there ALL said the same thing. charles knew. every. single. word. not just the super catchy and incredible choruses. EVERY verse. EVERY harmony. EVERY ad-lib and before you tell me "he's just supportive." YES. he is!!!! but the album has only been out a like 2 months meanwhile this man was singing like he'd heard these songs hundreds of times before. almost like... i don't know... HE HELPED WRITE THEM???
so. my current theory is this: charles and y/n have been secretly dating since sometime in 2023/24. he helped write and produce a large portion of the album under the pseudonym leo monte-carlo. their close friends all know and they're all terrible at keeping secrets and the hard launch is coming sooner than we think.
i will either look like the smartest person on the internet or!!! i'll be deleting this in embarrassment. there is no in-between anways,,,, love yall and love you user4 for keeping me eternally humble 😘😘😘
