My final two typs.

In the second week we concentrated all on typography. Here are my developments that brought me to my final typ.

Final two illustrations for captivity and freedom.

Thumbnail sketches and idea development for captivity.

Once the mind maps were done I started visualising my ideas with thumbnail sketches. Through this process, I managed to develop a clearer idea on what my final illustration for my words could be.

My last elective is VisCom. For the two week project, we got two words to work from. My words are freedom and captivity. Here are my mind maps for those two words.

I have a strange fascination with street lights. I took this image of some lights near St. John’s Castle in Limerick City. I made some different drawings of the lights and made a dry point print. I used the mono print technique to create an interesting background for the image.

I found this grid in front of an old shop window and I liked how it was simple and decorative at the same time. I like the colour print I took of the wood cut.

I liked the brick work on this building and I enjoyed creating this print on wood block.

Wood block I designed this print form a photograph I took in Limerick city. I liked the brick wall and plaster covering some of it. I made some drawings to see how I could make an interesting print using wood block.

Dry point. I used dry point and masking tape to explore the patterns of the pavement and gutter.

More black and white!

I played around with black and white saturation in photoshop to get a different feel from my images and to get some ideas how I could use them for print!

You brief for this week is all about urban patterns around Limerick city. So I went around and took some images of things that caught my interest.

My second elective is print. I am looking forward to create some interesting art in print.

I worked on the stand with different fabrics to look at how designs could work and how some of mz fabric swatches work together. I like this part of the development because you can see if some of your designs will work on the body and not just on paper.
