“This feels weird- doesn’t this feel weird?” Nora asked, throwing seed at the birds before looking to the other. “I want it to not be weird, but I don’t know.”

“Do you ever wish you could just be like them? Un-bothered by the burdens of the world, just bobbing around and being fed all day. It must be nice.”

“You’re taller than me, can you not just shield me from the water?” Nora called out to the elder man as their pace increased in trying to find shelter from the rain. “Why can’t either of us control the weather, I swear they said it wasn’t going to rain today. It was supposed to be good flying weather.”

“Come on slow poke, for someone who teaches combat you really aren’t dealing very well with a slightly incline.” Nora taunted from where she was standing at the top, smirking down at the other. “I will remind you it was your idea to change our morning run to an afternoon one. Despite the weather being way warmer now.”

“So how’s everything going on in the hero world?” Julian asked, walking alongside his sister. “I feel like I don’t ask you about that stuff enough.”

Nora tried not to chew on her bottom lip too much, she wasn’t the best liar in the world and yet she had managed to keep her deteriorating powers a secret. “You do know a lot of that stuff is classified to muggles like you.” She teased he brother. “But it’s good, things are a little more intense ever since Malum has been showing it’s head again and they’re proving to be more persistent too. But-... things are good. How are things at the academy?” 

“Ugh, why the hell is my neck so sore?” Ronnie asked, “It’s been bugging me all day.”

“Did you pull something when training?” Nora asked, moving closer to the other, “I can try and get the knot out if you want, I’ve been known to be quite good at finding and relieving pressure points. I think it’s something to do with the super strength.”

“I certainly hope you have a good reason to interrupt me,” Wes murmured, looking up from the book he was reading.

Nora looked a little alarmed at the other, holding out his wallet with a somewhat sheepish smile on her face, “You kind of dropped this, so I guess this is a good reason. Especially if it’s worth value.” She commented, “What are you reading?”

“Yeah, okay. Fine.” Cassia said pointedly, “Bye.” She turned back to the other, “Sorry, what were we talking about?”

“Urgh-... It wasn’t anything too important. Just work stuff.” Nora commented, her brows furrowing at the other as her need to comfort people kicked in and she was probably overstepping a boundary once again. “Are you okay? I mean- that sounded... tense.”

“That is so Disney princess of you,” Julian chuckled with a little shake of his head, always enjoying the endearing responses that came from his sister. “Although I read somewhere that ducks shouldn’t be fed bread. Not sure if it’s valid but perhaps it’s worth looking into if you like to spend your Sundays in the park feeding them,” he teased lightly. “Immune, maybe not. But developing a tolerance? Will you take that?”

“Why thank you- that is the highest compliment anyone could pay me.” Nora commented holding a hand to her chest as she looked at the other, “I feel the need to complete a Buzzfeed Disney Princess personality quiz now to see which one I am.” She chuckled, her eyes going wide as she heard her brothers words. “Oh no- have I been unintentionally hurting ducks?” She pouted, “I’ll just have to take a pocket full of bird seed next time to the park. But it’s not like I go on Sunday’s purposely to feed them.” She told him, being serious despite knowing the fact that the elder man was teasing her. “Sure- I will take that until I have to rush you to the hospital to have your stomach pumped.”

“So you mean to tell me that if you dropped a whole sandwich, you’d leave it there? Even after you paid for it and everything?” he asked. “Not really. I think at this point my body is immune to disease because of all the bacteria I’ve possibly consumed in the past.”

“Yes, I’d be sad about it, but hope that maybe a duck family would stumble across it and make it worth the drop.” Nora commented, looking to her brother and knowing he wouldn’t settle for her answer. “I don’t think you can be immune to bacteria and disease, dear brother. I’ll be sure to remind you of that when you end up at the doctors with some stomach bug.”

“What? Never heard of the five second rule?” was Julian’s response as he caught someone watching him take a bite out of the sandwich that he had picked up after dropping it on the sidewalk.

“Oh I have, but I tend to have it only come into play when I’m in my own home and with small pieces. Not off the public walkway and a whole sandwich.” Nora commented, looking to her brother with slight disgust, “Do you never worry about getting sick from doing stuff like this?”

“Hey, so we’re writing an article about the heroes in HQ, would you be able to help me get everyone together so I can take some photos of ya’ll in your suits and everything?”

“Is this because of the whole MALUM thing being brought to light in the past few months?” Nora asked the other, “But I think I will be able to get a few to agree to some photos. Not all though- we have a lot of grouchy heroes in our midst.”

Jay woke with a start when he heard the door open, his mind flashing back to his time in the military. He let his mind relax slightly when he saw it was his sister walking in. “Nora? What are you doing here?”

“Sorry-..” Nora apologised, looking apologetically at her brother. “My mind was whirring too much and I couldn’t sleep. I didn’t really pay much attention to where I was going until I was well, here. I can leave if you need me too.”
