Wait WHAT??!?!?!?!!!!

He wasn’t supposed to die. He was supposed to be immortal. He was a god! Other than his living being not here, all of these things are still true.

He will never die. He is immortal. He is a god! and he always will be.

David Bowie stirred something in me as a child. I remember sitting in front of the TV late one night when I should have been sleeping. That show, Midnight Special (I think) was on, which is the first time I ever saw him. I was enthralled. He was mesmerizing. I was very young. I didn’t know whether he was a boy or a girl. I know I wanted to hear more.

My oldest sister, who was ten years older than me, had one of his albums. I remember just sitting there staring at it. He was so pretty. It’s weird. I remember looking at my sister’s albums and taking in the cover art, but I don’t remember listening to them. She was pretty scary, so I probably was too afraid I would ruin them.

A few years later, after a couple of years of Mtv, I had my own albums of his. I listened to him constantly. I was in 8th grade and did my science project on him!

He was always there. He continued to be there for me. In High School, there was Labyrinth. I LOVE this movie because of him and Jim Henson, but mainly him. Hello?! Did you see the cup? and the makeup and the hair? Eighties perfection!

My first arena concert was The Glass Spider Tour! with Peter Frampton, yes! Here’s where my memory went screwy on me. I’ve thought for years that I went to this concert with my oldest sister and the girl who lived next door to me growing up, but today is the second time that someone has said that I went with them. I honestly don’t recall. What I do remember is listening and being in pure ecstasy. He was amazing. Peter Frampton was pretty cool too. I also remember getting my first 2nd hand high. Regardless, whoever I went with, I thank you from the bottom of my heart!

I remember going to see Ziggy Stardust at Tulane’s McAlister’s Theatre.

He proved to me that you didn’t have to be “normal”. There is nothing I didn’t adore about him.

It’s hard to imagine him not being on this earth any longer. He touched everyone, whether they know it or not.

Gone, but will never be forgotten. Thank you for everything. For without you, I shudder to think what I may have turned out to be.
