5 reasons to attend No-Fi Disco's 1st Birthday Bash
Today marks a week since No-Fi Disco's official first birthday (whoop whoop) and only a week until No-Fi Disco's first birthday bash! Now, all of us over here at No-Fi HQ are super excited about the magical nonsense that'll be taking place in Stirling next Saturday night and I could, quite easily, ramble on for 18 pages (FRONT AND BACK) about how amazing it's going to be and how you absolutely cannot miss it, but I won't. Instead, I'm going to tell you 5 simple reasons why next Saturday night (15th March 2014) at 10pm, your booty should be headed on into Meditteranea to dance the night away...
1. Firstly, the tunage. As advertised, the gig promises "just a few straight up solid hours of techno facemelters and classic No-Fi curveballs and anthems". Previous nights have seen an assortment of music, from Rustie and Ten Walls to Fergie and Beyonce - the night might be a bass filled extravaganza building the house and techno music scene in Stirling, but none of our DJs are afraid to through in some classics, be them house, dance, pop or any other they can get their paws on.
2. Which leads us onto my second, and most important, reason: the DJs. As always, we have the fabulous Druff and C.Armstrong bringing us the entire night as well as their incredible skills behind the decks. Chris and Gav have been running No-Fi for an entire year now and their nights have gone from strength to strength, meaning that I can say with 110% certainty that Saturday night will be a banger. Joining these guys will be two local names; Griff and Ryan Hamblett - Ryan is something of a local legend and is expected to pull some beast tunes out on the night, Griff has played sets in Dundee and Ibiza which have destroyed the place.
3. I'm going to take this opportunity to big up local restaurant Meditteranea, the venue hosting this wonderful event. Meditteranea is located on Viewfield Place (at the bottom of Queen's Street) and is a small restaurant serving absolutely delicious food. Like, seriously, its incredible. Downstairs, however, there's a bar, seated area and a small dancefloor - perfect for a night like this. I guess it could be seen as a dingy sweatpit (it does get very sweaty when our guys hit the decks) but there's a sense of class and hominess in Meditteranea that stops it feeling cold like a warehouse space or a scummy nightclub. It really is beautiful. Oh, and it helps that the staff are lovely and up for some banter.
4. Now, if I haven't convinced you by now, how does a sweaty, bass-filled, alcohol-fuelled after party at No-Fi HQ sound? Banging? I agree. The last No-Fi afterparty saw 30+ people crammed into a 5m x 3m living room with 2 sofas, 2 chest of drawers, 2 huge speakers and a handful of Stirling's best DJs (see the photo below). This resulted in some of the most ridiculous sights - mostly great but some we'd rather not remember - including, someone dancing on the mantel piece...and then falling off said mantel piece. And this time, the hosts are determined the party will be bigger and last longer than the last...which ended at about 7am... But you'll have to come along and party with us to find out details of the afters.
5. If you still don't want to come, then I suggest you see a doctor...but I'll give you one last reason, just in case you're on the verge of realising not coming would be the worst mistake you'd ever make: Wolfcry Soundsystem. That's right, Stirling's own will be providing their epic soundsystem and filling Meditteranea's small space with a magnificent selection of speakers (and whatever else they have to offer) that'll make your hair stand on end and your clothes shake. And I mean that literally if you get close enough.
So that's my five reasons you should get on down to Stirling's Meditteranea on Saturday and help us celebrate in style, and if you still decide not to join us then I hope you enjoy sitting alone eating cold pizza or getting hit on by some sleaze in a scummy nightclub whilst we have a face-meltingly good night. And on that note, the only thing left to say is TAPS AFF!
