this one was really short bc it was mostly battle but I'm about to make up for it with some pike thoughts

I was initially really turned off by this heel turn, bc it felt kind of unearned? like I said at the time what would save it for me was literally one scene of pike trying to reach out to the others and being waved off. because otherwise it becomes the same thing as scanlan, where you're having arguments in your head for a year and eventually you forget that you're playing both parts. and that's still kind of what happened here, except with the added factors of a fuckton of more recent (largely unaddressed) grief and gideon's bullshittery.

grief makes you stupid. and because everyone grieves differently, there's no way to predict how that stupidity will manifest. all pike has wanted from the literal first episode is to help people, and at a point where almost every other avenue has been (seemingly) closed off to her, she's handed this one really big way to help, something that would also benefit her. so she took it.

I still think it would have been improved by adding a scene where she tried to reach out to the others, or even if she mentioned it at keyleth's ceremony. something showing that she tried, instead of just waiting for the metaphorical phone to ring.
