The Lord of the West picked Malik up under the arms and swung him in a circle. Spinning once, twice, and setting him down. The First of Jackals seemed quite excited about something. He had returned from Egypt, some place where Siwa used to be.

""kayf hi taelimuk ya abn awaa alsaghir?"

(how is your schooling, Little Jackal?)

"Baba!"

(Dad!)

The young boy giggled in surprise as his father picked him up, having not expected his arrival at all. Maman had said he wouldn't be back for another week at least... Was she in on this, or did she not know too?

Gabe’s expression soured at the other’s words. yeah, yeah. okay. 

He watched him draw the first portal and it kept him from making any further comment, because seeing Malik use his abilities was always the coolest. “-I’m not gonna scream.” 

The sudden loss of anything beneath his feet, even though he knew it was coming, still caught Gabriel by surprise and with a yelp he was slipping through the fabric of spacetime or whatever. 

He managed to land on his feet, crumpling downward to put a hand against the ground as support. “Ah, fuck- knees.” He winced. 

Briefly, his hands patted his pockets. “-I think I dropped my phone down there.” Down through the neon pink portal tumbled the phone, and whacked the young man on the head, but he caught it. “Ow” 

Malik crossed his arms and gave the most devilish grin as he heard Gabe yelp, watching his friend recover from the fall. Man, that never gets old. In Gabe’s defense though, sticking the landing, or even getting used to being teleported for that matter, took a while to get used to. 

He looked on as Gabe dusted himself off, raising a knowing eyebrow as he mentioned not having his phone, feeling what was coming next. Malik managed to stifle his amusement down to a quick chuckle, putting his hands together in a sort of single slow clap to close both portals in the blink of an eye. 

He took a look around to see if anyone had seen the whole ordeal before dropping his arms to his side.
