nipdate (nipple update) the scab on my right nipple has come off and it looks a little funky i'm not gonna lie. there's a depression in the middle of the nip and some gunk BUT it is more shallow today than when the scab came off yesterday so i think i'm just gonna cover it with a plaster and let it do its thing.

now that most of the scabbing is gone the worst part of recovery is not resisting the urge to pick at my skin, it's that i can't sleep on my side. i have not had a truly comfortable night's sleep in 3 weeks 👎

Me 1 day later: I need to be left alone to gather the pieces of Me together

Me 2 days later: there is something very rotten at my core and I will almost certainly die unloved

i have been waxing poetic to everyone i talk to about how happy i am practically nonstop since i woke up from surgery but it still hits me every time i look down at my chest that this is the best thing that's ever happened to me. the bruising has faded and the majority of the scabbing is gone and it looks so good. i can dress myself pretty normally now which means i can wear the tshirts i packed that i was extra excited to wear, and now i look in the mirror and see the version of me that always existed in my head. i guess it'll take time to get used to it and eventually it won't be so new but i'm enjoying the novelty and the amazement at the fact that it really happened and i really look like myself now.

#i will keep gushing about this for a while this is actually very restrained #i keep just saying out loud wow i straight up got top surgery. because it feels so impossible even though it's real #like this is exactly how i have always pictured myself even in my dreams this is how i appear and now it's real! so wild #jude.txt #top surgery diary

having shown my nipple to everyone who will look and also done a lot of googling, i have accepted the consensus that it is probably scab and not actual nipple. i am still deeply stressed though

my left pec area has started kind of squelching when i touch it? like there's fluid inside, and it wasn't doing that yesterday so...place your bets on what's going on in there i guess

my surgeon says most likely a seroma, which is a collection of fluid under the skin, and that it's common after surgery and should reabsorb on its own so no need to worry. i will say though, i was quite worried because god what a weird noise to be coming from my chest

my ma still lives in the house i grew up in which means it's still full of the relics of my youth, and now that i'm here for more than a flying visit for whatever holiday, i'm seeing a lot more of those relics, including the brick i took home from my physics lab when i was 14 which i drew a face on and named jephph. he's holding the airing cupboard door closed so the cats don't get themselves stuck in there :)
