I think it's only the second time I've changed my username since I created this account

Lately they've been claiming it's not because of Robron but because of Robert. But who really knows, they keep moving their goalposts so much that I don't think any of it should be taken in good faith. For e.g first they were mad that Chris didn't want his character killed off, then when people pointed out that Robert getting a PTSD storyline didn't depend on Kev dying (like they could still do a ptsd story for him now), they pivoted to saying they are mad because Chris supposedly 'forced' the show to change Robert's storyline and not because he didn't get killed off. There is an weird obsession with some to see Robert traumatized, victimized and abused, then being babied and treated like a princess. If the show decides to do that for Robert tomorrow with Jez as his tormentor and main source of his prison trauma, and finding out Kev lied about the stabbing, they probably still won't be satisfied. The next complaint will be that Kev is a trigger for Robert's trauma and therefore has to leave the village anyway. Or that Kev doesn’t deserve a relationship with Lewis because he delayed Robert’s appeal and stopped them from meeting Angela at Christmas and therefore shouldn't get to bond with Lewis since Robert still doesn't have Seb. If Robert eventually gets Seb back, it would become that Kev is taking screen time away from Robert or Robron and that screen time shouldn't be wasted on Kev at the expense of Robron/Robert. There will ALWAYS be another reason for why Kev needs to leave. And when they talk about how they would tolerate him if only the show gave him the sort of redemption they think he should earn first is bullshit. Basically they want him to do nothing but go on an apology tour, be cursed at and spat on by everyone in the village, work hard to be accepted (which hello? he's already trying to do with Lewis), and do nothing but meditate on his wrongdoings all day long and enroll in some kind of 12 step programme and keep saying sorry to all and sundry but especially to Robert. Lol like a soap ever does this kind of thing onscreen. Do these people know the genre they are watching? If every morally compromised character had to complete a years long apology tour before even being allowed another storyline, half the cast would have nothing to do.

But seriously - hate Kev all you want, but leave Chris out of it. He's just doing his job. He might ad lib some lines but he does not have final say on what ends up on screen. If the directors, Laura Shaw, Iain MacLeod, and whoever is above iain up the itv foodchain don't like what he's doing, they'll tell him to stop or change or just have it cut from the episodes.

Some people act like Chris is in charge of the whole damn show and I'm tired.

They axed the White family and introduced the Tates in 2018, and I don’t remember anyone being this upset about actors losing their livelihoods. I do remember people being upset when they killed off Gerry, and obviously it sucks when they kill off your faves, but I don’t remember people resenting the new characters or blaming the newcomers for it.

Maybe I’m remembering things differently, but it just feels like the reaction is much stronger this time around.

people hate Kev for getting in between robron and ruining the perfect reunion, and the story is a hot mess... and they hate Chris because he doesn't play along and isn't "scared" of the fandom.

So everything either Chris or Kev does is the worst thing ever because both of them are evil personified.
