What a lovely finale. I thought it had a very happy ending, all things considered. Jax's arc hurt, but knowing his full backstory, I can understand why the narrative went the way it did. And his scenes were all killer.

The show may be over, but it doesn't really feel like a goodbye. There's so many stories to write and art to make, and the fandom will be around a long, long time.

An experiment with vector art in Inkscape. I'm a little rusty, and this was just a quick proof of concept. Still working out proportions, colors, stroke thickness, shading, etc. I can tell what character she is, so that's something at least (it's Gangle, obviously).

Long ago, in the Before Times, when dinosaurs ruled the Earth and everyone walked uphill to school both ways, I drew MLP fanart. It's how I learned Inkscape. I'm not sure why it took me this long to realize I could use the skills in the only platform I (used to be) halfway decent in with TADC.

Just got back from watching The Last Act for the second time in as many days. It holds up to repeat viewing. Knowing what's coming takes away the shock value, but it still hits hard (in a good way) and I teared up at a couple points. I really do think it's either my favorite or tied with my favorite episode.

I went in my low-effort Jax cosplay again. People liked it! There was a lady who also dressed up as Jax and we complimented each other's outfits (I think she did much better with color matching, personally).

These showings have been the first time I've actually met other fans (who aren't my immediate family) in the wild. Everyone has been lovely. Like everything else, there's a disconnect between the online experience and meatspace. Reddit isn't reality.

I got back from the theater an hour ago and I'm still just... emotionally reeling, in the best way possible.

Man I love this show. So, so much.

I wasn't originally planning it, but I'm going back to see it again tomorrow. I think it's my favorite episode.

Shoutouts to the Zooble and Gangle cosplayers I met in the lobby! We didn't trade names or socials but they had outstanding outfits. I was in my last-minute-Amazon-special Jax "cosplay", not much compared to theirs, but Zooble asked if I could pose with them for a pic and I was honored. My smile wasn't very Jax-coded (I said that and they laughed)

This show's taken me on an emotional roller coaster, but I'm very happy I found it. I don't think I've ever loved a cast of characters more than these tragic little Circus people.

Tomorrow marks the end of the official story, but it's not the end of the fandom. People will keep writing, keep drawing. I know I will. It'll slow down, but it won't stop completely.

It's been, what, 15 years since MLP gen4 happened? And it's still going. I just checked AO3 and there's a whole page of fics just posted today. Sure, it was a TV show, but YT has just as broad a reach nowadays and I think the comparison is apt. The common denominator is people really, really love the characters. That give the fandom long legs.
