After years, Azriel developed feelings for Elain and helped her to overcome her sadness and depression by being the softest gentleman with her, taking her to garden walks, being a quiet company for her, listening to her talking about gardening and baking, and much more instead of looking for his """mate""" who had the worst trauma and was in the most vulnerable state of her life and visiting her in the library to see if she was okay (even 'spying') or building a friendship with her.

And then, when Azriel was going to train the Valkyries in ACOSF, they would already have all that development we readers didn't know and would show through the book, and there would already be that tension between them. Meanwhile, they have absolutely nothing.

He didn't look for her after she was rescued, he didn't want a friendship with her and doesn't consider her a friend, he doesn't reach out to train her privately or offer to train together, and on top of that, in the bonus he left her alone on the freezing night, didn't want to spend the whole night with her (like he did with Elain) and didn't offer to escort her back to the safety of the library after she finished her training.

And then he tells Clotho to give Gwynnie or any of the priestesses the necklace he gifted to the woman he wants to kneel so bad to taste her sweet jasmine flower. It's like the situation where someone doesn't want something anymore because it has now bad memories, so they give it to someone they know but don't spend time with them and say "give it to anyone who you know will like it, I just don't want it anymore" and then they leave like 'I don't give a fuck who gets it, just be someone who is not my friend'. Like… he had all that feeling of gifting Elain the necklace HIMSELF and putting it on HER, and with Gwynnifer in the bonus it's like "yeah, give it to her, or anyone there, thanks Clotho, bye".

Meanwhile through the book we know he worries about Elain, he cares about Elain, feels sick of Elucien's bond, has tension with Elain, almost kissed Elain, and every night he goes to bed with his mind on Elain.

That's a big fucking L.

Sorry, you'll never have the Truth-teller scene, the rescue scene, Azriel always reaching out to Elain, Azriel questioning his religion, Azriel staying away because the thought of Elain not being his mate hurts, Azriel spending the longest night of the year with Elain, Azriel being a poet because of Elain, Azriel always finding a way to be with Elain, Azriel risking his life for Elain, Azriel being in his joyous state because of Elain, Azriel desiring and adoring Elain....

Y'all sit down, we're actually good especially with our reading comprehension.

Casual readers not necessarily like her but they genuinely want to know more abt her. She is one of the main characters. She is the mystery 3rd sister who went into the cauldron, who is present since the first book. The 3/3 of the whole set of 3.

So screaming in comment section abt how Elain is bland or how boring she is to you would not negate the fact that SJM since acomaf intended to write an Elain book.

Again antis like to equate how much they hate Elain to how important she is. Theyre like “if I hate her and my cult leader also agreed then this must mean everyone also think the same and therefore Elain is undeserving of a book”

If she is bland and boring as u claimed, then how could she ignite this strong emotion from yall. Wanting her death solely for being boring is quite a stretch isnt it? Coz lets be real yall never hate Elain for the fact that she’s ‘boring’. Its because..

SHE IS A THREAT TO YOUR SHIP.

Theres no reason for you to passionately hate Elain other than that reason. Her sole existence specifically in the Night Court is so damning to ur ship. “She can’t stay in the NC. She must be evil. I want her de@d. She will be human again.” Anything just so she will not be in the Night Court

The fact that antis are that scared and that opposed and have this strong feeling abt Elain getting a book is so weird to me. If ur ship is as strong as steel, Elain getting a book would not be a problem. Its like…they know Elain’s book is inevitable so they hope screaming in the comment section would make sjm/bb change their mind???

Again if ur secure with ur stance then there’s nothing to be afraid of right? right?

or instead of thinking for themselves, they would rather rely on someone with a big following because obviously, OBVIOUSLY, rather than forming your OWN interpretations and opinions, some would rather just believe one narrative to be true just because

it gets to a point, to be honest…

people offline tend to understand the narrative more because they are actually engaged in reading instead of engaging in whatever herd mentality certain communities groom online. LOL.

This is why when I recommend ACOTAR to people I tell them to avoid the online fandom until after they finish reading all of the books. This allows them to go in without bias and form their own thoughts/opinions (without certain loud and wrong individuals breathing down their neck).

I personally don’t understand why people think booktok influencers or people with large followings have any authority when it comes to these books. Some of them have a track record of being wrong so there’s no reason to think they know better than the average reader.

These books are very simple to understand. People don’t need to read them a hundred times to understand the author’s intent or what direction she’s going with the story. It’s like she said. It’s obvious.

This is one of the most evil and horrible things you could ever said abt a woman even if she’s fictional.

Is because you know Tamlin is an abuser. Thats why you want her to go to him.

I dunno guys, wishing a woman end up with an abuser do tell something abt how you think as a person. Wishing a woman misery in the hands of a man is a thing id never wish to my enemy.

Because he is the only male character so far (aside from Graysen) that she has expressed interest in. She was the one to make a move on him (“put it on me?”). He is the only one she’s ever given gifts to. He is the only one she’s ever complimented and spent time with (willingly).

You either 1) don’t care about her autonomy and only value the wants and needs of the male characters. Or 2) want her out of the way, so you can ship Azriel with some random character he has no romantic feelings for.
