SEASON 3.
This is where we find out if doing things the Nightwing way is the right way.

The dark hair blue eyed boy shook his head slightly at her comment about his driving - most women were like that when they first road with him but later changed their minds. He took the helmet from her and fastened it to the bike along side his.Â
Offering her his arm, he gave her his devilishly handsome smile and waited to see her reaction. This was a strange night to say the least, but what else was there to do after you finished studying and a pretty girl was kicking you out?Â
âI gather bars and clubs arenât really your scene are they?â He asked after a few minutes.Â
She rolled her eyes slightly at his reaction; he could shake his head all he wanted, but there was no changing her mind that his driving tactics were interesting to say the least. Still, she gave a small smile when he offered her his arm and wrapped her own around his, her cheeks reddening just slightly at his smile and the comment that followed.Â
âThat obvious, huh?â Barbara asked with a laugh, following his lead into the building. âThough I am at least somewhat familiar with this place⌠Been here at least two or three times before.âÂ
âPretty easy to spot a girl who doesnât usually hang out at these establishments. Just stick with me and youâll be fine.âÂ
Walking in with her on his arm, he knew instantly there would be several jealous men that would cast looks their way. He guided them over to the bar and sat down before holding his finger up. âJack Daniels and anything this lovely lady wants.â The bar was fairly empty except a few regulars and a couple of desperate guys and girls all exchanging glances across the room.Â
He smiled and turned his attention back to Barbara, letting the others continue in their usual game.. âSo tell me, how is it being daughter of a police officer such as Jim Gordon?âÂ

Dick laughed slightly at her attempt to sound cool and collected from behind him. âYou sure? Youâre pinching the nerves in my shoulder a bit.âÂ
He slowed the bike a little, not weaving as much as they came to the next red light. He tried to stop the bike with as little as jolt as possible. He adjusted a few things on his bike to make the ride a bit smoother. Letting the bike rocket forward again and took a few more turns till they were suddenly outside of Sportsmaster.Â
Shutting the bike off, Dick pulled his helmet off and ran his hand through his hair a few times before stepping off he bike. He offered her a hand as he began to lock up his saddle bag with some fancy new Wayne tech.Â
âSorry,â She muttered, a little embarrassed as she loosened her grip slightly. Opening her eyes again, she did notice how heâd slowed down and was driving at least somewhat sensibly. Still, she was glad to see the front of the bar once they pulled up.Â
Sighing, she waited for him to step off the bike before removing her helmet and hoping her hair didnât look completely awful. After handing him her helmet back, she took his hand. âWell that was⌠something,â Babs laughed a little, following suit and stepping off the bike.Â

âI do know who your father is,â Dick laughed lightly, revving the engine once. âAnd the cops love me, who could resist my charm?â He flipped down the visor and waited for her to climb on.Â
Hearing her choice he nodded and thought it to be a smarter decision anyway - no way was he in the mood for a nightclub, but he always thought it was a good thing to ask. âThen Sportsmaster it is. Hold on tight, gets a bit bumpy.âÂ
He waited till she was ready before letting the bike rocket forward. The roar filled his ears as he raced out of the student parking lot and out onto the busy street. Dick, like most guys, loved to drive fast and with a bit of reckless abandonment. He didnât drive crazy, but he did like to show off a bit when he was on his bike since it came like second nature. He zipped in and out of line and brought the bike to a halt at a red light.Â
âHold up back there Babs?â His voice echoed through the intercom between their helmets - Wayne tech privileges.Â
Barbara scoffed, âMy dad is a master charm-resister.â Still, there she was, willingly getting on the bike and risking getting yelled at later. She just had to remind herself than in Dickâs hoodie and with the helmet on, none of her fatherâs coworkers would recognize her anyway.Â
âUh, okay,â she said quickly and oh-so-full of confidence when he warned her about the ride. Despite the warning, she still jumped as he shot forward, her hands instinctively gripping onto his shoulders. She wasnât exactly a fan of the bike or his driving methods so far, but considering she had zero idea how to actually drive a motorbike, she kept her opinions to herself.
âDoing-Doing great,â Babs said, trying to not sneer or sound sarcastic through her very gritted teeth. As the light turned green and she felt the bike take off again, she swore quietly, her hands gripping tighter and her eyes squeezing shut. Bikes so far were most definitely not her thing.Â
Dick laughed slightly at her attempt to sound cool and collected from behind him. âYou sure? Youâre pinching the nerves in my shoulder a bit.âÂ

The boy shrugged and offered her his extra helmet, and nodded to her manager as they walked by. âHope youâre okay with the helmet, should fit. But now, onto more important matters: I know two spots - oneâs Sportsmasterâs Bar, or the nightclub, Gabrielâs Horn. Up to you, unless you know of place.â
He let his helmet rest on his head as he slipped off his hoodie and placed it i the saddle bag. A pair of jeans and a black t-shirt were enough for him to stay warm. He offered her the hoodie. âI have a leather jacket if you want that instead, gets a bit cold on the bike.âÂ
Swinging his leg over the bike, Â he kicked it in gear and fastened his helmet before waiting for her to climb on and let him know where sheâd like to go.
It took Barbara a minute to realize why he was handing her a helmet, having not taken in the bike in front of her or having not realized it was his until then. Before she was able to comment on it, he was already saying, asking, and handing things to her, and she wasnât fully sure on how to react or what to respond to first. Taking the hoodie, she nodded in understanding and slipped it on.Â
Now that she stood in front of him, helmet in hand, she couldnât help but laugh a little. âOkay, sorry, but you do remember who my dad is, right?â She asked, mostly joking. Her father was most definitely the type to have warned her about handsome men who owned motorcycles and had questionable reputations. Before he could respond though, she shoved the helmet on and turned back to the bike in front of her. âJust so we both know and are aware, heâd probably skin us both alive if Iâm caught on a bike, so letâs just, yâknow, stay clear of cops.â
Finally getting on to the bike carefully (and, though sheâd never admit it, nervously), she thought about his question. âHonestly, Iâm more of a bar-sports-bar-pub kinda person, so Sportsmaster sounds a little more appealing than a nightclub.â Sheâd been to Sportsmaster once or twice with some of her classmates to know it wasnât the classiest place around, but she didnât exactly fit into the club scene.

âOkay, Iâll be out in a few,â She said, smiling back easily before giving a quick wave and turning away from him. Her evening game plan had included watching bad TV with her dad and some take out, but she was sure heâd just as well take a rain check considering that was how they spent most nights.Â
Without realizing, Barbara must have been working at a faster past than normal because suddenly her manager was asking her if she had plans or some kinda of âhot date tonightâ waiting on her. Though she had mostly been teasing, Barbara didnât miss the look her manager shot her as they walked outside and Dick was out front waiting patiently.Â
âIâll see you tomorrow night,â Babs said to her manager with a polite smile before she was able to say anything to Dick and most likely embarrass her. It was his job to be the embarrassing one tonight. âSorry, thanks for waiting.âÂ
Up to you, unless you know of place.â

âSorry about that, I⌠Iâm sorry that was rude.âÂ
Probably not the best way to introduce himself but there was no going back now. Rubbing his chin, he watched as she took in this person he was when no one else really saw him -well, the side of him that was hidden from the lime light of the cameras and press. Probably not the best representation of himself or his families name. Â
He almost laughed at her subtle joke at his name - because he was sure as hell being one tonight. âYeah, it is. Iâm ashamed to say I only know your last name Ms. Gordon.âÂ
Sticking his hand out, he gave his flattering, 100 million dollar smile. âSay we start over and I buy you a round so I donât feel like a total dick?â His hand remained out as a gesture of a truce for the awkward moments that had just occurred.
âDonât worry about it⌠could, uh, could have been worst,â Babs said with a short laugh, not exactly sure how much worse it could have really been. âItâs Barbara, friends normally call me Babs for short,â she explained, smiling despite herself. Though she knew he was doing it completely on purpose, his smile was most definitely contagious.Â
After a few seconds of deliberation, she nodded, going to move her hand up to his when she heard her manager call for her, surely wondering where she ran off to. âShit, I still need to help close down. Uhm, my turn to be a little rude, but give me fifteen minutes or so?â She asked, walking back towards the main desk slowly.Â
Dick watched her face light up, a bit of his charm helping with that and he couldnât help himself from smiling back. âItâs nice to meet you Barbara, or rather meet you again.âÂ
He watched her sift through the thoughts in her mind, pondering if going for drinks with him would be a good idea after all. But, after a few minutes she nodded and was about to take his hand when someone called for her from the front of the library. Placing his hand back in his pocket awkwardly, he smiled a bit and gestured for her to go ahead.Â
âIâll be out front, take your time Babs.âÂ
Heading towards the door, he gave her another flirty smile and strode out to the parking lot. Part of him was glad he didnât take his sports car but rather took his bike. Pulling it close to the front door, he pulled his phone out and began to scroll through his social media. The dance club he usually went to was having a jazz night while the sports bar was doing happy hour - heâd ask here which she would prefer since after all he was buying.Â

Dick gave her a strange look as she simply stated she had volunteered. She seemed nervous or in the very least trying to figure out something. He guessed she was attempting to find out exactly who he was - proving his idea that they did know each other.Â
âIâm sorry,â He said bluntly as he held onto the strap of his bag for a moment, his black hair falling into his eyes just a little âWeâve met right? I know Iâll regret this, but remind me again what bar and what kind of night we had?âÂ
He tried to remember all of his drunken nights but unfortunately not all of them came back to mind. He was sad to say he had been hit more than once across the face because of this and numerous drinks thrown in his face.Â
Suddenly, it hit him like a load of bricks, his face turning several shades of crimson. âShit.â He muttered, âYouâe one of Bruceâs friendâs daughter right? Jim Gordonâs right?â He rubbed the back of his head, obviously a bit embarrassed.Â
Barbaraâs eyebrows shot up at the question and the bluntness of it, a bit taken aback. Despite the rumours of his playboy attributes, Babs had only ever seen the polite, son-of-a-millionaire-whoâs-hosting-this-party side of Dick. âUh,â she started, scoffing a little as she crossed her arms and bit into her lip. This had turned into an interesting conversation. âThatâs not quite why you probably recognize me.âÂ
She sighed a little as he came to the conclusion on his own. Scrunching her nose up a little, she nodded, doing her best to not laugh in his face. âYep. That would be my dad⌠and how we know of one another. Itâs Dick, right?â She asked, doing her best to call him by his name and not any other form of the word.Â
âSorry about that, I... Iâm sorry that was rude.âÂ

Too engrossed to notice the girl at the other end of the aisle, Dick continued to read and pour over the books before him. He practically jumped out of his skin when she started talking to him. Snapping his head to meet the owner of the voice, he locked eyes with a very attractive red haired woman. Shaking his head, focusing on what she said he gave his signature smirk and started to close a couple of the books.Â
âYou know, not many women can sneak up on me like that.â After stacking the books up, he powered off his computer and slipped it into his bag.Â
âHowâd you get stuck with kicking people out of this hell hole?âÂ
Okay so the library wasnât a hell hole, but to college students cramming for a test, it might as well have been. Putting a couple books away, he selected three texts that he would read over back at his apartment: âSerial Killer Investigationsâ, âCriminology: The Coreâ and âIntro to Criminologyâ. Â
Slipping them into his bag, he studied the girl for a moment, she was familiar but he couldnât place it. Maybe she was a drunken one night stand? A forgotten fling? A girl he met and never called back? Honestly, the nights when school was out were a bit of a blur - though he was fairly sure he would have remembered her.Â
Babs raised her eyebrows, not having expected that as his conversation opener. âYes, well, surprise, here I am,â she smirked back, studying the face in front of her for a moment. She had seen him before, she was certain of it, but she was having a hard time placing him, which wasnât something that happened to her often.Â
âHmm? Oh, uh, I volunteered?â She shrugged with a short laugh, taking a few seconds longer to answer than she should have as she tried to figure our how she knew him. âSomeoneâs got to do it and I would have been here anyway. May as well be paid to be here, right?âÂ
Her eyes quickly scanned the titles of his books as he stuffed them away, recognizing them from a few of her own classes. For a second she thought that was maybe how she recognized him, until she caught part of his name on a paper:Â âGraysonâ, as in Dick Grayson, adopted son of her fatherâs billionaire friend, Bruce Wayne. Sheâd met him once while she was still in high school and attended one of his dadâs parties with her own father, but had no idea they ended up at the same school let alone in some of the same courses. For what she knew of him, she guessed he had zero idea or recollection of who she was. Â
Dick gave her a strange look as she simply stated she had volunteered. She seemed nervous or in the very least trying to figure out something. He guessed she was attempting to find out exactly who he was - proving his idea that they did know each other.Â

On any given day, it was normal to see Dick Grayson perusing a bar after work or even hitting the gym. But with school back in session, it was time for Dick to hit the books. Currently, he was pouring over a book on Criminology but for some reason, Volume 4 was missing and it bothered him. His eyes flew across the computer screen as he scanned text after text. He had a test in a couple of days and needed to ace it to ensure his top of the class status. Apparently, a fellow student was catching him and would likely surpass him if he did not ace this next test. Part of him knew he shouldnât be too hard on himself, after all Criminology was his second Bachelorâs degree he was working on but still - he liked to be the best.Â
Thumbing through the pages, he hardly took any notice to the library becoming quite empty and the lights nearby beginning to shut off. He ran his fingers through his hair, trying to understand what was in volume 4, otherwise it would drive him mad for the remainder of his evening.Â
With school now in full session, Barbara had started spending more and more time in the library reading rather than actually working on her shifts. While some of her managers were strict on her getting work done and helping students while being paid, her evening manager was far more relaxed, allowing her to study and understood that she only worked there to afford to actually go to school. Having her eyes focused on jumping between her book and computer screen as per usual, she must have lost track of time again, since she jumped a little as her manager came up behind her and instructed her to close up and to move any stragglers along.Â
Normally the library was empty at this point, making her job easy, but tonight, in the last aisle she had to check, there was one guy left who seemed completely oblivious to the fact that the library was definitely closing.
Babs cleared her throat a little, waiting patiently for him to see her and to catch on to what was happening. After waiting a few seconds and watching as his nose stayed in his book, she coughed a little louder and tried to be as polite as possible, âExcuse me? Uh, sorry to bother you but weâre actually closing up now. Extended hours for midterms donât start for another few weeks.âÂ
