the sad truth about shipping is that almost always it IS more compelling to have characters whose deeply obsessive relationship only ever orbits the idea of sex, because foregoing the convenience of sex as an explanation for why their relationship is the way it is opens the door to explore sooo many other motives for obsession or love or attraction or fascination, motives that might overlap with sexual desire, but once it IS sexual desire then it's always ABOUT the sexual desire, and all those other things too often fall to the wayside. but at the end of the day i am just a monkey who wants to have more than i want to want. and i want the characters to have sex
