So, as we transition into our full mutant storyline (!!!!), there’s going to be some ground rules and this might get a little long. We’ll have the OOC information first and then the IC information second, both in bulletpoints for easier digestion. PLEASE read this in full and continue to call back to it if you find yourself confused. If there is something that has not been addressed in the following, please ask and we can deliberate and answer you ASAP, as well as update the post.
OOC INFORMATION - This is basically how it will work, and how we’re going to approach the transition out of character.
First off, our rules on powers:
Nothing too game-breaking is the biggest priority. You should always ask one of the ‘loremasters’ ( the previous admins ) if the power is okay.
We will be limiting how many characters can get powers, aside from those getting it from the V-Shot. Our limit is no more than a 1/4th of the characters you have, so only a 1/4th of the population will be getting powers.
How we’re going to stagger it is like so:
If you have one to three characters, you may have one mutant.
If you have four to seven characters, you may have two mutants.
If you have eight or more characters, your limit is three mutants.
THREE MUTANTS per player is our hard limit for the time being, but this may be revisited in the future, per our 1/4th rules.
There will be more drugs introduced over time, most likely IN CHARACTER and not on a plot update like this. And information will be posted on lore channels or character channels if the character is in charge of the spread / production.
To introduce a mutation to an already existing character, there are some regulations to follow so it’s not all buckwild immediately:
Confirm that the power is okay with a loremaster.
Fill out the powers questionnaire in the server.
SLOWLY introduce the powers to your character ( the following timeline will go by how much you’re active. You cannot post one day, and then post a week later and skip the timeline that has been set out. The more active you are, the faster the powers should develop. )
FOR THE FIRST WEEK - Your character should start feeling a bit different and showing small signs of changes, but nothing substantial. This will vary by power. For example, for powers having to do with fire, maybe their body temperature begins to rise or things heat up in their touch faster. This is where we’d encourage you to get creative about what happens.
FOR THE SECOND WEEK - Powers begin to show up in full force, and characters will have little to no control of them. Reactions to this can vary completely, but try to keep it slightly in the realm of realism. Think about it like this, if a real person suddenly started to melt things with their eyes, they wouldn’t just shrug it off. Of course, this is a science fiction roleplay, so things can get a little weird! Physical mutations that alter a character’s body or body chemistry will now start to grow but might not be fully done yet.
FOR THE THIRD WEEK AND ON - If your character is trying to learn to control their powers, they start to show slightly more control during the third week. However, total control will still be a long ways off and they will need to train to be proficient. For physical mutations, they will now be in full force and fully shown. Control may or may not come into play here.
NOW for the lore reason as to how this happened! Pro-mutant groups have begun to rise, suspicious of the way the government is addressing this and trying to keep it relatively under wraps. The more radical of the groups have taken some of the contaminated cepraxine and dumped it into the water supply. It’s a small amount compared to what the Switches are being injected with every two weeks, but there’s still a slight chance of the mutation. Hence, the 1/4th limit of mutants.
IC INFORMATION - This is what your character will know, experience, and see through this transition period.
Over the next week, mainstream media will begin to pick up on a few stories here and there. They’ll be more like filler stories, with an air of disbelief. One example could be a story about calls to the government about suspicion of Switches have increased.
After a week, most characters will probably know someone or knows of someone through other connections that has a mutation. It’s starting to get a little more real and less abstract.
Widespread news will begin after three weeks, as mutations start to show in the forefront. This will be updated as time goes on in other posts!
