"This is a photograph taken by Claudine Schafffer-Legrand about twenty years ago. it wasn't taken for the express purpose of the Suture album cover. Maja had it in our house for years and we felt that it worked really well as a visual manifestation of the sutured collection of lost tracks and out-takes that comprised the record. such strange bedfellows needed a unifying angel of mercy to be their heraldic figure. this aching self-portrait of Claudine spoke volumes about the distressed, fractured nature of that compilation. Maja and i designed the cover over the course of a night or two: fast, furious and effective. i love it. the picture itself went with our friend Erick, Claudine's husband, into a gallery exhibition at the start of 2011. it showcased much of her work and the deeply unique frames Erick built for all her photographs. when he died in november all her artwork returned to us. some will go on sale. some will take up residence with friends. this one will remain with us. - as for new Chemlab and tour, neither at the moment. all creative juice goes into finishing the Prude record which will challenge, feed and savage your imaginations in 2012." - Jared Louche
