Neo Caius Fairmont wasn't supposed to be born, but fate had other plans. His mom Adriana, a historian with a deep love for Greek culture, was already blessed with a daughter, Callista. Unfortunately, she had poor health and was battling a rare form of leukemia. Neo was born to save his sister. His cord blood had the stem cells she needed. His parents came from differing backgrounds. Adriana, was an African American Historian who challenged conventional thinking, and Darius was a Caucasian CEO of the prestigious Fairmont hotel group, Neo grew up in a world of privilege. His mom named him after the Greek word for "new," perhaps sensing that her son would forge his own path in life.
Despite the golden spoon in his mouth and his dad’s expectations to follow in his footsteps, he was drawn to a different calling. While other kids from wealthy families were learning about profit margins and market strategies, Neo was often stuck in his private art studio, clothes splattered with paint—creating worlds on canvas that existed only in his imagination. His talent was undeniable. During his high school years, his art teachers couldn't help but notice how he managed to infuse his heritage into his pieces. When it came time for college, he chose to attend École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, much to his dad's disappointment. Paris became more than just a place of education to the young artist—it became his sanctuary. After graduation, he stayed in the City of Light, where his art caught the attention of galleries and collectors. It was during a group exhibition that he met Blair Anderson, another American artist trying to make it in Europe. Their romance seemed like something out of a movie, but his parents saw what he couldn't—or wouldn't—see. There were a ton of red flags in Blair's behavior they didn’t like; her unpredictability, her manipulative tendencies.
Still, at 35, Neo followed his heart and married Blair. Their son, Marcel, came along soon after in 2020, but parenthood revealed the cracks in their relationship. Blair took off when Marcel was just a baby, leaving Neo to be a single dad. He had to completely change his life to take care of his son. He took to fatherhood quickly, and since then, he poured all his time in raising Marcel and his art. Life threw another curveball in the summer of 2023 when his sister Callista, who had taken over as CEO of Fairmont hotel group after their dad’s retirement, had to step down due to health complications. The choice was clear but difficult. He could either step up to lead the company, or the family would have to sell. Despite his aversion to the corporate world, Neo couldn't bear the thought of being responsible for so many job losses. He agreed to take the position, but his dad, ever the businessman, insisted he learn the ropes from the ground up. That's how Neo found himself crossing paths with Samira Iyer, the company's external affairs manager.
