CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA
Cape Town is an amazingly cosmopolitan city and amazingly modern, but at the same time, due to Apartheid, is has it's less than pleasant history about it. A big part of that history is how the non-whites were forced into ever-migrating townships where hastily built shacks like this one were used for people to live and work. When you get to take a tour of them and see the conditions people still live in to this system, you can't help but appreciate everything this country has been through.
TOKYO, JAPAN
One of the coolest things about Tokyo is how many people they cram into one city and how some of the coolest things are found in the most random alleys. You can go down the main boulevards of Shibuya and Shinjuku of course, but then you'd miss out on countless hole in the wall bars, restaurants, and karaoke joints, like the ones featured in this alley.
SIHANOUKVILLE, CAMBODIA
I know people want to punch you in the face when you say you need a vacation, especially if traveling around the world is part of your job, but travel really can wear you out. I eventually found a small town on the Cambodia coast where I could just go and relax towards the end of my travels. The days consisted of waking up, going into the warm waters of the gulf, and then drinking and relaxing until the evening.
CHANG MAI, THAILAND
Riding an elephant is actually a bit more nerve raking that you're probably prepared for. When they waddle, their weight shifts are enough to throw you for a cool dip in the cold water. And they can, and will stop for the occasional snack when they spot one.

SOMEWHERE IN NAMIBIA
When you're traveling for hundreds of kilometers a day in search of wildlife, you need something to pass the time. Without power to fuel our cellphones, we used cards.
ZAMBEZI RIVER - BOTSWANA
If you ever get a chance to safari in Botswana, make sure you include the Zambezi River on your itinerary. We were able to catch elephants, water buffalo, elephants, elephants, and crocs all in one shot. Here a solitary elephant gets a couple visitors.
BORDER BETWEEN SOUTH AFRICA AND NAMIBIA
Namibia is perported to be the third least populated country in the world. And when you cross into the country, you can see that it's true. Desert, dunes, and mountains stretch as far as you can see without any other signs of civilization for miles. In photos photo, I was able to catch some of our 4x4 as we crossed into the no man's land that is Namibia.
KALAHARI - BOTSWANA
In between seeing wilderness, we got some to spend some time in the Kalahari with the local bush people. The Basarwa, as they're called, showed us around the land and how they hunt and gather everything they need for survival, from animals to natural medical remedies. On this early morning, our guides took to the trail to show us how they hunt snakes and scorpions.
CHANG MAI - THAILAND
I decided to take a river raft tour through northern Thailand and as we mounted our rafts, I discovered that our raft guide was a little bit younger than most. For being around 10 years old, he did a great job guiding our raft swiftly. Perhaps more interesting is our elephant visitor in the background of the trees watching us float.

ATACAMA DESERT - CHILE
Sand boarding is amazingly fun, but the downside of going down a huge cavernous dune is that eventually, you have to go back up. Hiking up these sifting mountains is never easy, especially with a snowboard on your back.
ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK - NAMIBIA
When elephants get together, they can get very playful. A couple such elephants were camped out by a watering hole for us to watch as they sprayed themselves down with water and then threw sand on themselves to deal with the hot African sun. Here, they have their trunks intertwined in a game of rough housing.
LA PAZ, BOLIVIA
During our walks around the hills of La Paz, I happened to pass the national soccer stadium and the city's main team, Bolívar, was playing a game. The stadium was half full, but chaos reigned in our section of the stadium which held the most serious home fans. What got me was the vendors, which seemed to outnumber the actual fans. They walked around selling empanadas, salteñas, cookies, sodas, and plastic bags of just. They chaotically exchanged money and passed food up dozens of rows while elbowing out their competitors from the good spots.
POTOSI, BOLIVIA
We had just arrived in Potosí and had about 20 minutes before dinner and an unexpected city wide blackout. I walked out of my hotel and down the street to find a high point to photograph the valley when I heard loud music blaring out of an old warehouse. I ducked into the warehouse and found that there was a youth league fútol tournament going on with all the pageantry and circumstance of the big leagues. Teams were decked out with their own groups of ultras. They had banners and flares. They played in what was essentially a crumbling building with a ball that was held together with tape. It was awesome.
...and then the lights went out.
POTOSI, BOLIVIA
This was purely one of those luck of the draw photos as I was sitting in my hotel room in one of the tallest cities in the world. I walked to the lobby and noticed the orange hue of sunset had set in. I didn't have much of a view from my room, so I frantically raced up to the roof to see if they had a walkway. They didn't, but they did have a couple open windows which I was able to lean out of and get some fantastic sunset shots with the Monastery peak in the foreground and the fiery sunset in the background.

SOMEWHERE BETWEEN UYUNI AND SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA
We trekked in 4x4's across the Bolivian dessert and found beauty, sand, alpacas, and more sand. The trails were literally barely visible and they'd get swept over with almost every hour. There was no real path to follow until we hit the border a couple days later.
ALEXI - SESSION OUTTAKE
For some people, it doesn't take much direction to get them looking great in front of the camera. In Alexi's case, it's almost as simple as point and shoot to get such a sensual shot.
