All of this, and also, they always nitpick the most ridiculous things. Why is it "too hard to believe" that people speaking a different language would have a phrase that means about the same as "train of thought" but totally reasonable to believe that all women wear dresses and all men wear pants when the idea of either as expressly gendered is limited to very specific cultures and time periods? Why is it reasonable for everyone to eat fruits that require highly specific environments to grow but not practical for characters to have derived similar turns of phrase to one of the many that have popped up independently across languages and cultures? It's one of those nitpicky complaints that's so annoying because it always makes the complainer feel intellectually superior, but it's *never* factually reasonable. It's always just a reflection of that person's 1. limited worldview of how things they take for granted have come to be, independently, across different places and times, and 2. a clear sign that they care more about performing some level of "rightness" over learning, having fun, or just generally trying to connect with people.
