Anderperry as requested by poetssociety on twt (what did they do?)
Thinking about how when Keating first introduces himself he says they can call him 'O Captain my Captain' if they're 'slightly more daring', and we see Neil as the first one to call him that, before some of the other Poets do throughout the film (the generally louder ones - Charlie and Knox), showing their already more 'daring' personalities.
The overwhelming significance of Todd saying 'O Captain my Captain' at the end is not just about him disobeying Nolan and showing his loyalty to Keating, it's about how despite everything he has become more daring, and that he's able to show Keating that in that final moment, with those specific words.
Something I have also noticed is, in the scene after the "call from God" moment where Keating comes in to quote-unquote "scold" Charlie, as he leaves, they all say, "Thank you, Captain."
Except Cameron, who goes "thank you, sir," before realizing everyone said "Captain" and correcting himself.
Cameron always struggled with being daring, especially in that group, and this scene personifies it greatly at that point in the movie, especially with it being well before the ending.
truer words have never been spoken!!! also look at how elle stares at him for a little bit at the end and catches herself HAHAH
me when elle woods sings βsome girls were just meant to smileβ

to sum it up:
moth girl giggling and blushing kicking her feet in the air writing in a pretty pink journal with a cute glittery pen and when you look at the page its just a bunch of drawings of streetlamps
I had to

Ace/aro books coming out this year that Iβm looking forward to!
Is Love the Answer by Uta Isaki - stand-alone manga about a college girl who discovers she is aroace. The same mangaka also did βMine-kun is Asexualβ a couple of years ago which I liked, though it was much shorter, so Iβm happy to see a full length release from them. This came out just last week, so Iβm super excited to read it when it gets here!
I want to be a wall (Vol.2) by Honami Shirono - manga series - releasing 17th Jan. I already posted about how much I enjoyed Vol 1 of this series, but for recap itβs about an aroace woman and her lavender marriage to a gay man who is unrequitedly in love with his best friend. Iβm really excited to see how their non-conventional relationship plays out :) itβs very slice of life and cozy!
I am Ace by Cody Daigle-Orians aka Ace Dad Advice - releasing 21 Feb 2023. Iβm glad to see a book about a sexuality actually written for an ace audience, because I feel like a lot of aspec books/articles are aimed at raising awareness with allos. Iβm excited to see how this one goes!
Sounds Fake But Okay: An Asexual and Aromantic Perspective on Love, Relationships, Sex, and Pretty Much Anything Else - by Kayla Kaszyca and Sarah Costello - releasing 21 Feb 2023. Iβve listened to their podcast a bit over the years and Iβm curious to see what they come up with in this book!
If you want to see a fuller list of all the ace and aro books coming out this year, check out this list HERE!
I want aromanticism in academia. I want essays on aromanticism. I want scientific studies. I want aromanticism as a literary lens to analyze shakespeare, beowulf, bronte. I want thinkpieces, and cross-discipline analysis, and historical archives. I want more than we have!!!!
god seeing people afraid to id as ace/aro because "what if it is just a phase? what if it is just hormones? what if it is just mental illness? what if I do find "the right person?"" makes me so righteously angry because I promise you, I promise no one in the community is going to revoke your aspec card on account of hypotheticals. if someone told you that then the stupid motherfucker lied to you. you do not look at water and go "well I'm not sure if I should drink this, because if the temperature drops below zero, it'll turn to ice." relax. let yourself just be. drink the water if you're thirsty. because it's water right now. doesn't matter if it'll be ice by tomorrow, or mist by next tuesday. it's water and you can drink it if you want to.

happy pride month to my fellow non-bitch needers
(edit: i made separate aro and ace ones, as well as oriented aroace, grey sexual/romantic, and one with the aro+ace combo flag :D so check that out if you want to)
(other edit: you can use these as pfps if you are inclined to do so! credit is appreciated but not necessary)
if you have time, please watch the japanese drama ζγγ¬γ΅γγ (koisenu futari; the two people who canβt fall in love) which focuses on two aroace characters
Sakuko finds it difficult to live in a society which operates under the assumption that people will fall in love with each other. She meets supermarket employee Takahashi when she goes to support a "fall-in-love" campaign by her junior at work. She is startled when she hears him say that there are people who don't fall in love. As Sakuko's mother keeps hurrying her to get married, she decides to move out and rent an apartment with her friend but her friend backs out at the last minute after reconciling with her ex-boyfriend. Just when Sakuko is about to give up, she ends up living with Takahashi under one roof because of their similar values towards romance.
