Darío shrugged, “I’m not sure. I would keep an eye on those that seem to be repeat costumers to those things. They might be feeling homesick and need someone to lean on.” He looked back to the machines, tilting his head a it, curiously looking it over. It was fascinating to him how everyone was so eager to get off earth, to leave it all behind, off for a brand new adventure with new things to try, only for them to suck themselves right out of the experience and quickly dive right back into it. He doesn’t think he’ll ever want it, though, because he truly couldn’t get far enough from earth. “Well,” he says, mostly thinking out loud, “I would be sucked in if they started offering concert experiences. That would be neat.”
He looks back at the guys eye, softly chuckling at his response. “I can only imagine what he looks like.“ The other before him seemed nice, friendly at least, it made him wonder what could’ve caused the altercation. And he was very curious to know what the other guy looked like, though he imagined him with two black eyes. “I can only imagine what he looks like. I’m sure he deserved it.” He stepped a little closer to the other guy, studying his black eyes for a second. “It might be uncomfortable, but nothing I don’t think you can handle. You got punched in the face, right? And, hey, if you want to ever pair up I can take us on a virtual drive.” He wasn’t sure if you could duo in the VR machine but the offer was there. “Ocean might take me a second. It also gives me the heebie jeebies.” There is a brief paused before, “I’m Dario. It’s nice to meet you…um?” He gives the stranger a second to introduce himself, or not, before continuing, “If you don’t plan to join the VR experience, do you want to see what else we can get into?”
"Well I'm sure they've got the staff looking out for things like that. If not - does this place have a suggestion box?" Bo asked, referring to the entire starship when he said 'this place'. "I'm no professional or anything," he was far from it, in fact, "but I think a suggestion box would be a good idea, and I think that suggesting people look out for the wellbeing of the people who spend a bit too much time in here is a good suggestion to make." Bo wasn't exactly the kind of person who looked out for others; of course, he cared for others, very much so in some cases, but it was more that Dario inspired the thoughts inside of his mind that caused him to say what he had.
His face lit up at the thought of concert experiences. "Oh surely they've thought of that!" There was a look nothing short of completely enthused as he thought of it. "Surely they've got a bunch of different experiences tucked away for special occasions, or for when we get bored of what we've already done a million times. I bet someone thought of that, they have to have."
The other guy was fine, in fact, the other guy was tucked away safely in a hypersleep pod. It felt nice to pretend for a moment, though, that he had done some damage in return. It also felt nice to hear that Dario believed him capable of that - even while he had no clue about the circumstances. "He definitely deserved it," he said as a way to conclude that part of the conversation, in order to get back to a more positive beat. "Hey, maybe you could even teach me a trick or two, help me work towards getting a license over on Mundus. At least we know I wouldn't get us hurt if I failed, right?" His suggestion was light-hearted, as was the laugh that followed it.
"Bo," he introduced himself, a large smile spread over his face. It felt nice, that feeling of already making friends aboard. Friends who he could start fresh with, who didn't know of his history or have it impact their relationships with him. "Great to meet you," he added in return. "That would be great! What have you gotten up to around here already? I've felt so overwhelmed by everything available and with just like wrapping my head around it all that I feel like I've done nothing."
seeing len again felt like a dream, even if he had been aboard the ship the whole time. part of kermit wanted to pinch himself, like he was afraid he might wake up suddenly and realize none of this was real. but no, len was here, right in front of him, in the flesh. kermit notices how his eyebrows draw together when len sees him and he can't help but give a small smile.
the plan really was that they would never see each other again. kermit had too much on earth to stay for, and len was in a position where he couldn't stay. kermit understood, he really did, but he would be lying if he said it didn't break his heart. things changed within a matter of days for kermit and he signed up last minute, now here he was. it seemed like the logical decision, to go where he knew only len could be.
staring at his partner, or ex-partner, whatever they were now, everything seemed alright with the world. it felt like this was where kermit was supposed to be, and like leaving earth was the right decision. he anguished over the choice he made every night on the ship so far, wondering if he had made a mistake. but right now, it seemed like the decision he made was the only option.
he takes a few steps towards len, lifting his hand to cup the other's cheek. "you really think i could stay away for long? you're my whole world, babe. no way i was leaving you behind." it was a partial truth, but in this moment, it was how he really felt.
Seeing Kermit on the starship raised what felt like a million questions all at once, all swirling intensely inside of Len's mind, but the most pressing feeling that Len felt upon meeting those familiar eyes was the feeling of relief. It was as if everything had so suddenly fallen into place, the missing piece of the puzzle bringing the perfect conclusion to the brilliant picture. Len had been struggling with the decision that he had made, but all of the many internal arguments he had had seemed to disappear without a trace now that Kermit was in front of him. It felt like this was exactly what was meant to happen, that this was exactly where he was meant to be, and that everything would now be okay.
It was overwhelming, but Len wouldn't have wanted to change a thing. He leant into Kermit's touch, and as he felt Kermit's skin against his own, he finally broke. The tears came hard and fast, but as did the giggles. They weren't tears of sadness, or devastation, or of anything of the likes; instead, they were tears of pure happiness.
Len rushed to his feet, and didn't hesitate at all before flinging his arms around Kermit's neck, holding him close in a tight, almost desperate hug. "I missed you so much. I thought I'd never see you again," he sobbed. He hadn't meant to be so emotional, but not only did he trust Kermit with it, he had been holding it all in to the best of his ability since boarding the starship, and that was a lot to carry with him each moment of each day. He was more than overdue to release such large emotions. "I'm so happy to see you again. I'm so happy to see you. I'm so happy that you're here." He squeezed him tighter than ever, struggling to articulate just what he felt when it was all so much.

"Aht! Out of your mouth!" Juneau knelt to Nacho 2.0's weirdly-realistic robot mouth. You'd figure a robot pet wouldn't have all of the same quirks as real ones, but Juneau supposed when they programmed it with Nacho 1.0's curiosity and ambition, that meant even a robot dog would try to eat a...What was that? She wriggled it from between his teeth, then shook the drool off of the chewed pulpy mess. "Does this...belong to anyone?" She shouted, holding it over their head. "I apologize deeply if so."
Ever found the people on board positively fascinating, and while there were so many things to see and to do aboard the Pigeon, people watching had swiftly become her favourite activity. Perhaps it was part of her mission to find herself throughout the voyage, or perhaps it was because she was a journalist at heart; no matter what the reason, though, that was exactly how she found herself so entranced by the other's struggle with the robot dog.
She hadn't meant to simply stand and stare; had it been a real live animal, Ever would have liked to think that she'd jump to action in order to eliminate any choking hazards, but the fact was, she didn't even blink twice until she realised that she was being spoken to. "Oh! No, no I don't think it's mine..." she took a step closer, trying to identify what it was that the robot dog had decided to make his dinner. "What... what is it?" she laughed, before quickly trying to regain composure. "Are they alright? I don't really know how they work compared to, you know, dogs on Earth." Ever hadn't wanted to say compared to 'real' dogs, worrying that it might have sounded insensitive.
"Is it that obvious?" Karma murmured sarcastically as she snapped herself out of the trance of staring at her hourglass Cosmo Link. She glanced at the younger woman and forced a grin. "I thought the hourglass might be...inspirational in a way? But it kind of feels like a timer. Like it's ticking down menacingly at me." She rolled her eyes and pulled her sleeve down over it with a sigh.
Eurydice couldn't help but feel incredibly sorry for the other. It wasn't a permanent choice, Eurydice herself even possessed the ability to change the cosmetic looks of Cosmo Links, but even so, it was a process and a cost to do it. It's not like you could simply press a button or click your fingers and switch it up. "If it makes you feel any better, I didn't know what the look was for, I just figured it had something to do with the Cosmo Link." She offered the other a small smile. "I couldn't even choose a cosmetic change for mine," she held out her wrist, where a glowing white star could be found. "Just went with the default, figured it would be easier that way. Have you looked into changing yours?"

“Believe it or not, I think it’s going to be the most earth like things. Walking around the stars is great, except there are stars all around us, but scuba diving? Driving? Now that’s…” he wagged his finger in the other guy’s direction, “that’s different. Suddenly we don’t have the luxury of getting in a car and taking off. There are no oceans out here, unlike on earth. And now, when we suddenly don’t have access to those very day things we used to, I think people will want them more. Either homesick or they will want something they can’t have.”
He lowered his hand, letting it fall back to his side, looking around again. “Personally, I’m not ready to detach myself from here just yet. Driving? I’ve had my fill. Scuba diving? The ocean terrified me more than the idea of the vastness of space.” Curiously he looks back to the other guy, tilting his head a bit sideways. “I am far too curious about what adventures I can find here, I guess. Speaking of curiosity, what happened to your eye?”
Bo nodded his head. He had thought as much, thought that the most popular simulations would likely end up being the experiences that everyone had just willingly left behind on Earth. "I wonder if that'll do us any good," he mused. "I wonder if it'll make people feel satisfied about their decision, or if it'll make 'em regret it." Bo was speaking as if he wasn't a passenger on the starship himself; it clearly hadn't hit him, not just yet, which made sense considering that he was a last minute sign up for the voyage.
He chuckled at the other's words about not wanting to participate in the VR adventures just yet. "Yeah, I get ya. I could never drive in the first place, and the water gives me the heebie jeebies nowadays." A shudder came over him. "Oh this little thing?" Bo wasn't offended to be asked about his black eye; it was incredibly obvious, and he'd have likely done the same thing if in the other position. "This is nothing. You should see the other guy," he dismissed it with a nonchalant shrug and a mischievous smile - even while there was nothing mischievous or smile worthy about the truth. "It's why I'm not getting into any of this shit just yet, though. Worried it'll just hurt."
kermit had...been avoiding len, to be completely honest. the pigeon had taken off only 6 days ago, and kermit could have talked to him by then. he knew that he wouldn't be able to avoid len forever, what with both of them working in the theatre. but, he just hadn't been able to get past his nerves. what does he say? how will len react? will len even be happy to see him? these questions and more echoed in his head.
people were still settling in on the pigeon, but operations had largely started. kermit had managed to narrowly avoid running into len on his first of work by hiding in the wings and other areas of backstage. sometimes, he'd catch a glimpse of the other man, and wonder how he was doing. but, today, he decided that he was finally going to approach len.
he fidgets with his sleeve with one hand as he walks towards him, pulse pounding in his ears from nerves. this is it, it was now or never. kermit does his best to smile, but it's more forced than genuine. "um...long time no see." he begins lamely, idly swinging his arms at his sides as if to dispel his anxiety
The choice to leave everything and everyone that he knew behind on Earth hadn't at all been an easy one to make, particularly not when it came to Kermit. Len had spent countless hours weighing up both the pros and cons in what had been a mentally exhausting process. Ultimately, as he had explained to Kermit, his partner at the time, Len had felt like he had a better chance at living a good - and a safe life - on Mundus Meus. He had cried more than he cared to admit upon leaving Kermit behind.
Len had been trying to live a good life aboard the starship no matter how broken his heart was, however. He expected that he would need an exorbitant amount of time to heal, but that everything would be okay in the end. The end wasn't near, but brief moments of happiness had still been awarded to Len in the waiting process. The theatre was where most of them took place; he felt so lucky to be able to hold onto his passions and his career, even while floating amongst the stars out there.
Some moments in the theatre, however, Len couldn't help but think of Kermit. He'd wonder what time it was down on Earth - were they still following the same time? - and he'd wonder if Kermit was in the wings of their old theatre alone. He couldn't stomach the thought of Kermit in the wings with someone else, but that thought crept up occasionally, too.
Len was looking particularly forlorn that day, funnily enough, thinking about Kermit. He was fiddling with an LED, readdressing it for the next show, when he looked up, and saw what he felt was as good as a ghost. He was completely speechless, standing there as still as a statue, the small screen on the back of the light blinking at him impatiently. Only when Kermit speak, was Len able to snap out of the trance.
"Kermit?" His voice was quiet, and there was a small squeak to it. A million questions flooded his mind. Len sat, right there on the spot, on top of the road case in which he had gotten the light from. He had feared that his legs were going to give out on him. Finally, one single question left his agape mouth, tears welling up in his eyes. "What are you doing here?"
"How likely do you think those two will make things on board interesting?" Nodding towards a couple, how they were making out in the hot tub overlooking the stars, before smirking at her acquaintance. "First, they introduced themselves to each other. They swam together, talking, laughter between them. Then, they started fighting over in the water park because that one—" she says, pointing to the tallest of the two, "looked at the lifeguard a second too long. Now, they're kissing and making up in the hot tub, which is definitely need to be disinfected after they're done. All within the past twenty minutes. Now, my theory is that they're already a couple, and taking advantage of this adventure to start a new life and have a little fun by pretending to not know each other. I work fast, but not that fast. What do you think? Already got your eye on anyone, or simply enjoying the beginning of our voyage among the stars?"

Gideon had been trying to ignore the pair. Love, intimacy, and anything of the likes was a particularly sensitive subject for him at the moment, but he knew that he couldn't run away from it, not when it was such a fundamental part of not only life, but of literature, which was en enormous part of his own life. He wasn't at the acquatic centre with the intent of undergoing some type of exposure therapy, however. Instead, he had pried his eyes away from a book, and he had thought that it might be more healthy to spend time anywhere other than his own living quarters on the ship.
His stomach dropped at the mention of the couple, though he assumed that his company was nothing short of well intentioned. "I could see that," he finally spoke up, only at the suggestion that they might have already been a couple. "Did you read over the regulations for couples on board?" He questioned, thinking back to the section in the application about how couples who weren't engaged, married, or otherwise legally binding had to undergo extra steps to their application in order to apply to board together. "Perhaps they lied and said that they were single, and are pretending to have made a match on board." Gideon took a beat, contemplating the pair. "It feels like there's more there than a quick connection between strangers."
Another drop of the stomach came at her last question. He smiled softly, trying to not allude to too much too soon. "I think it's entirely too soon to be thinking about anything like that; for myself, at least." It was true, Gideon hadn't found himself admiring anyone in particular, but that was only because he had come aboard with the extra baggage that took the form of an incredibly broken heart. "What about yourself?"

Eurydice had had no issues with operating her Cosmo Link since take off, naturally, as someone who worked on the team that developed, refined, and maintained the technology. Not everyone had gotten the hang of the new technology so quickly, however, and so Eurydice had found herself having what felt like more conversations in the past week than she had had in her entire life before the starship.
She had become incredibly vigilant, particularly when it came to looking out for people struggling with their Cosmo Links. That's how she found herself noticing the person who she stepped closer towards. "You good?" She asked in a casually friendly tone of voice - the tone she had gotten used to putting on as of late. "I noticed you staring at it; didn't know if you were struggling, or just like, either regretting or admiring your cosmetic choices," she chuckled.

Bo wasn't feeling particularly ready to to dive into any virtual reality scenarios just yet, not with the throbbing shiner consuming a great part of his face. The thought of encasing a black eye in those goggles made him wince, but even so, he had come to check out what was available. He had been an avid enjoyer of VR games back on Earth, and while he was excited about his new adventure in his real life, he thought that it was only a matter of time before he'd be going back to his old habits.
Turning to the person beside him, the only one in the vicinity not suited up for or in the middle of a virtual reality, Bo cocked his head to the side. "What d'you reckon the most popular experience in here will be by the end of the voyage? Like, the most popular reality people will be going in to?"

"Did you ever imagine this? Growing up?" Ora stocked up some records before glancing over. It was weird: going to work, as if in any other regular place... Yet if you looked out any window, there was stars. There were planets. "Y'know, when I was a kid, I had a dream where I was lying on a planet, yet there were stars and planets all around me. I was reclining back, just like I would under a tree, but there was no gravity. No spacesuit to keep me safe. Just space, and I could bounce from planet to planet if I wanted to. This feels pretty close to that. It's... surreal. Like any moment, I'll wake up in my shitty bedroom, hearing my shitty roommates throughout our shitty house, ready to tackle Toronto for the day."
👽𝚌𝚑𝚊𝚛𝚊𝚌𝚝𝚎𝚛𝚜: morgan "ora" hotchner & up to player ( @pigeonstart )
"I never imagined anything like this, that's for sure," Ever admitted, feeling somewhat embarrassed over her inner monologue, for no good reason at all. Ever, having previously been a Mormon - for most of her life, too - had only engaged in cosmic dreamings when they were related to the afterlife, to put it plainly. It didn't exactly feel like the best time to get into all of that, however.
"You're from Toronto?" She asked. It was far from the only thing that she had taken away from all of what the other had said, but it was the first thing that she thought to ask. She'd never been to Toronto before. She supposed now that she never would. Perhaps she shouldn't have asked at all; the last thing she wanted to do was make the other feel home sick. "It feels surreal to me, too. Like unfathomably so. But I'm pretty sure we're not dreaming, if that makes you feel any better."
"How ready are you to fuck an alien?" Their grin grew mischievous. "I'm just saying: a lot could happen in the next twenty to twenty-five years before we get there! What if these Cosmo thingamajigs are genetically mutating us, slowing our physical ages to make us live longer and look like we're ten, fifteen years younger than our biological age? What if aliens also move to Mundus Meus, causing us to co-live with them? Do you think they could be homogeneous or diverse, just like humans? What if we could procreate with them? What do you think a human-alien hybrid baby would look like? Ugly-cute or cute-cute or ugly-ugly-but-in-a-cute-way?"
👽𝚌𝚑𝚊𝚛𝚊𝚌𝚝𝚎𝚛𝚜: iris clover & up to player ( @pigeonstart )
Bo's laughter came out with a loud snort. Their question was just about the last question that he would have expected to come from them, in all honesty. The voyage had only just begun, and already people were talking about getting intimate with aliens? Bo hated the fact that he didn't hate the question, but that type of self-hatred brought him an incredible amount of amusement.
"Woah woah woah," he laughed again, putting his hands up as if to halt them from anything further. "One question at a time!" He shook his head, stifled a laugh, and tried to really think about it. "If the alien was sexy and like, was a kind of alien that aged similarly to us then I'd totally be down," he decided, unashamedly. He then skipped some of their questions, unsure as to what some of their words had meant. "I don't know if I believe that there'd be any of 'em out there that could have babies with us. I think if there was, though, that it would depend on what they looked like - whether or not the babies were cute or ugly or cute-ugly or ugly-cute or whatever else."

Ever Smith has left everything behind in order to join the voyage to Mundus Meus. They're twenty-five years old, are a news paper publisher on board, and are originally from Salt Lake City, Utah. You might recognise them from their glowing blue moon shaped Cosmo Link. Their passenger file describes them as observant and guilt-ridden, and lists them as residing in the third floor residences. ⋆。°✩ Phoebe Bridgers, queer, woman, she/they.
Content warnings - religion, loss of faith.
Basics -
Full name: Ever Zina Smith
Nickname/s: None currently
Preferred name/s: Ever
Gender: Woman
Pronouns: She/her & they/them
Age: 25
Birthday: March 1st
Zodiac: Pisces
Sexuality: Queer
Relationship status: Single
Occupation: News paper publisher & article writer
Hometown: Salt Lake City, Utah
Early life -
Ever was the sixth child born into the Smith family, a large devoutly mormon family of what eventually became twelve.
Ever felt half-alive a majority of the time, simply trying to continue on and obey.
As much as she tried, however, Ever was always finding herself in trouble.
She asked too many questions, used too much imagination, had too many ideas, and cared far too much for logic.
Aside from being one of the few problem children in the family, Ever didn't find many moments of her upbringing noteworthy.
She craved solitude, loneliness even, but she never knew what to do with it when available.
There was a lot of internal unrest. Growing up, if Ever wasn't detached from reality, she was instead restless.
Later life -
In late high school, Ever found herself involved in the school news paper. For the first time ever, she found herself in a unique position of observing, but not having to interact.
It allowed her to avoid the cluelessness she experienced while alone, while being able to blend into the background and not be bothered by others.
Finding this passion allowed her to find herself in a lot of needed and necessary ways.
These years didn't come without their trials. They came with a loss of faith, jarring realisations about self and identity, and a terrible feeling of having lost connection, community, and belonging.
Through it all, Ever became more intrigued by people. She felt understanding others could be a great way to finally understand herself.
After school, she became a journalist, still loving the field and the ways that it was slowly helping her personally.
In her work, Ever even reported heavily on Mundus Meus, and the starship voyage. Out of all stories, this was the one that intrigued her the greatest.
Why did they sign up for the voyage? -
In all honesty, Ever has always felt lost and out of place, and it only worsened since losing her faith.
She took quite some time to properly consider applying for the voyage, but since she began to report on it, she couldn't get the thought out of her head.
The celestial aspects of her past faith also had her believing that perhaps this was the very best choice for her.
It wasn't an easy decision to make, but she felt as though she had to do something drastic in order to properly live.
Personality & more -
Ever is endearing. She's not entirely charming or charismatic, but she has a very sweet nature to her.
It is somewhat obvious that she's trying to find herself. It's not that she shares this information, it's more that she semi-obviously struggles at times.
She can be nosey. Ever founded the news paper on board, and so naturally, she's trying to find the latest scoop. She doesn't mean to be disrespectful, however!
Ever is very polite, and she helps where she can, when she can. She is overall, a very kind-hearted person.
She's not forthcoming with personal information, but she wants to be.
Ever is always trying to better herself, along with find herself.
Eurydice Finch has left everything behind in order to join the voyage to Mundus Meus. They're twenty-nine years old, are a Cosmo Link engineer on board, and are originally from Greenbelt, Maryland. You might recognise them from their glowing white star shaped Cosmo Link. Their passenger file describes them as intelligent and guarded, and lists them as residing in the fifth floor residences. ⋆。°✩ Jaz Sinclair, bisexual, woman, she/her.
Eurydice's early years were magic. There was love, laughter, excitement, and a real family surrounding her.
This environment helped her to foster her love for learning, a love that grew tenfold each day in her early years.
In school, she thrived. Adored by teachers and peers alike, Eurydice was an eager student and a good friend.
Entering her preteen years, Eurydice's mother fell sick.
Eurydice's father checked out emotionally at this time. When his wife needed him the most, he wasn't there. But Eurydice always was.
She grew closer to her mother as she cared for her, and in her spare time, she threw herself into her academics. This way, she wouldn't have to think about her life.
Her capacity to be a good friend suffered. Most were understanding of her circumstances, but it wasn't ever the same again.
She was always exhausted, but at least she was never alone, being so close to her mother.
That came to an end with the death of her mother, which happened in Eurydice's final year in high school.
Unable to stick around her family home in her grief, Eurydice found herself in the most intensive college course available to her.
Later life -
After graduating college, a job in medical astrophysics technology became her everything.
She tried to have something resembling a social life, but she remained guarded by her grief, and used work as an excuse.
It wasn't all for nought, however. For years, Eurydice worked tirelessly with Star Life Corp., those responsible for the colony on the planet Mundus Meus.
Her work aided so much, and later became vital to the cause of Starship MM-1218's maiden voyage, namely, the Cosmo Link technology used upon it.
As the voyage neared, however, her loneliness grew stronger and was no longer avoidable.
Unfortunately, Eurydice resorted to the only thing that she knew how to now. She kept working.
Why did they sign up for the voyage? -
Eurydice didn't lose contact with her father entirely, no matter how strained their relationship had become.
She tried her best to be a good daughter, and she hoped that they could reconnect for so many reasons of her own.
Things never got better with her father, unfortunately. In fact, he became progressively colder, and harsher, and too bitter for Eurydice to be able to stand it.
Not only did Eurydice join the voyage to follow her hard work to Mundus Meus, she also signed up happily so that she could finally have an excuse to leave her father behind entirely.
While she would find it hard to admit to anyone else, Eurydice also hopes to use the voyage as a means to unlearn her bad habits, and find what she's lacking in life.
Personality & more -
Eurydice isn't entirely walled off from others, especially not when her job requires face to face interactions.
She has a habit of being snappy, inpatient, cold, and impersonal, but she also has a softer, kinder, sweeter side.
She's independent, self-sufficient, but she doesn't want to be alone anymore.
It's a slow process, but she's trying to become connected with others far more than what she was on Earth.
