It's the first time he sees her out of her armor.
He's surprisingly troubled by the soft curves of her body, by how delicate her bones are. Her clavicles are like lace paper, embossing the thin material of the turtleneck clinging to her like a second skin. She looks⦠frail.
This is jarring, to Dante. He can't equate the blunt warrior he knows and this pixie-like girl. His brain is not responding, all his thoughts are stalling so his mouth takes over, spouting nonsense to deflect, going on autopilot fuckboi mode.
He tears his eyes away from her collar bones and drags them lower. He smirks and he coos, anything to distract her from his too-emotional reaction.
"Why hellooo, puppies! I didn't know you were there!"
Anger immediately clouds her brow like thunder.
She grabs his jaw, twisting his face to force his eyes back up to hers.
As she leans into his face, he thinks he can hear his jawbone crack.
"Is this another of your jokes? Like calling me "Lady" because I'm not womanly enough? So you're calling me small-chested, now?"
Dante gulps, throat suddenly dry. No, his problem is definitely not that he finds her boobs too small. He finds them just nice and he wants to bury his head between them, that's his real problem.
"Well, tough shit, lover boy. I don't give a rat's ass about your opinion on my tits."
Her fingers digs hard into his jaw but he's past caring, the only thing he sees is the scalding rage in her eyes. She's a bonfire of fury and he can't look away. He can feel his face heating, starting to burn under the intensity of her glare.
That seems to remind Lady of just how close they are. Red suffuses her cheekbones before she abruptly lets go of his jaw with a growl and storms out of the room.
