It didn’t take long for Max to compose himself, he had learned over the years how to mask his feelings —still he hated that he had slipped up in the first place. He knew that emotions were a part of being human, but when he was in his job as a detective he felt more secure, like someone else almost. Someone who wasn’t as vulnerable as he could be, a stark contrast to how he was when he was younger. Back then, he didn’t care who saw him upset or angry. Now was different.

Looking over to the nearby telephone pole that Dark pointed out, Max raised a brow at just how many posters were tapped to it. Jesus, how did he miss that? It wasn’t quite what he was expecting such as a wanted board like back at the office, but it would suffice. 

Placing the end of the cigarette between his lips, he strolls over to the telephone pole and takes a glance at the posters, his eyes examining them closely. None of them were Katelyn, that didn’t mean he wasn’t willing to try to find each and every one of them — even if it was something that had to be done by himself.

Dark steadied his breath and let himself relax. He had a tendency to talk freely about the supernatural. After all, he was almost always in the presence of someone or something supernatural. He realized in that moment that he hardly spoke to normal people anymore.

He nodded with some hesitation, shifting his gaze to his boots. The past ran through his mind, his stomach turning with every bizarre moment. It was too painful to revisit - sober - anyway.

“Listen, there’s a bar just up the street. I need a beer for this.” Dark shifted where he stood. He felt like an asshole.

Max seemed genuine enough, eager to want to help; much like Dark.
