“–––I didn’t miss it, I just didn’t think that you being your own after what just happened is a good idea.” Yes, she was angry, but he wasn’t sure if she was angry with him or the situation they’d escaped from. 

       ❝  IT WASN’T OPEN TO NEGOTIATION. I’m pissed off, Doctor    ------ I’m hurt, I’m    ------ I’m allowed to be angry. I’m very much allowed to be as angry as I like after you behaved in front of ‘im. Don’t try and fix this one. You don’t get to do that.  ❞   

The lights did little to dull Theta’s pain, his eyes too damaged to see any at all, but he nodded nonetheless. It was better to swallow the pain and put on a brave face. He wasn’t the only person suffering in the TARDIS. Clara was scared too, he couldn’t make things worse.  He had to be brave.

Yet, the pain distorted his sense of the room around him. He could feel Clara haul him up, but even on his feet, he felt lost. Only the gently hum of the time rotors and Clara’s delicate hands on him stopped him from collapsing back onto the metal grating.

“I know the way.”

Just fight the pain. Fight it for Clara.

There’s apart of her that’s rushed, anxious to get the worst part over with, but each slight increase in Clara’s speed falters with the sensation of Theta’s especially unsteady gate. She holds him tighter, draws in a breath resembling the last of her patience, an exhale never emitted until he’s seated safely in bed.
