Sweet like Sugar

niko followed his wife’s gaze, wiping his foot and sandal once the rag was within his reach. he pressed his lips together at the baby blue tinge left on his foot. “or … we could go into the cabinet and just get some cleaning supplies.” he spoke half heartedly, knowing her enough to let her own thing. he took a few more steps into the apartment, limping slightly in case his foot still held paint. “vinegar could work with stains too.” he spoke up, pulling out a water bottle from the fridge.

Nova paused in her steps as she jumped onto the couch. “You always pick the complicated route.” Nova teased as she typed on the computer. She gave a big smile to the other. “Vinegar! That’s what these results say!” Nova smiled. “Did I ever tell you, you are a genius, honey.” Nova said as she went to the cabinet. “Should we use apple cider or white vinegar?” Nova asked holding out the bottles.

   “EXCUSE ME,” she called after the woman, “where did you get your dress?”

Nova paused and walked backward. “My dress?” Nova asked. She gives a smile. “I got it from a thrift store at the corner.” She smirked. “But I added some sequins to give it that extra sparkle.” She did a small twirl. “Why you ask?” Nova wondered.

            “ oh i think SOMETHING could be arranged.   tell me… how desperate are you for gainful employment ?  i could help you out … for a price. “

She raised a brow, eyes noticing the ukulele and her eyes widened. “What… What is that?”

“Oh my ukelele?” Nova asked raising the instrument slowly. “I got this from an airport-I added the sparkles though,” Nova said. She handed it to the other. “I can teach you how to use it.” 

Vicki thought for a moment. “Things probably have changed in the past thirty years.” Yikes, she did not even think about it. How math could be different, it couldn’t be right? She let out a soft laugh when she snapped out of her thoughts. “Well, that’s good that you aren’t living in a box.”

“Not really, today just called for a shot or twenty.” Anna smiled when Nova took the drink. 

“Did anything happen today?” Nova asked, looking curiously at the other. Nova smiled at the bartender, trying to make sure they would get some privacy. “Another round for both of us.”

“Well, I’m trying to take a test to get my high school diploma.” She mumbled before sighing. “But the material is so boring.” She raised an eyebrow. “Are you an artist?”

at the familiar face, and the words of apology, elena shakes her head, waving it off because it wasn’t needed —- it was just her being nervous about this new adventure, and scared that fate was probably sneaking up on her. “ no — you don’t need to apologise, it’s just me, i’m a little —- no, a LOT on edge.” she breathes, laughing, a hint of a smile at her mouth. “ oh, was it the best day of your life ? it’s always said that it’s the BEST DAY of a girls life. i’ve thought about my wedding since i was a child. i used to always talk to my mother about it, about when i’d grow up —- and meet my prince.” she laughs again, shaking her head in embarrassment. “ as you can see, i used to think i was a princess ! but —- but i’m here now … because it’s actually happening.” 

“I think that was the most incredible first date I’ve ever been on,” she chirped happily to the person next to her. “I mean really I’ve never met anyone as sweet as him.”

“That’s good news!” Nova exclaimed with a smile. She moved to the table next to her. Nova loved hearing about love stories.“Mind telling me more about this gentleman?” 

“You’re gonna do another shot with me, right?” She handed the other person the glass whether they wanted it or not.

“I’ll do my best-” Nova said drinking the second shot. She has drunk before but only on special occasions. Nova made a face before talking. “So you do this often?” 

That’s NOVA JIRAKIT-ISIDORO  She’s 26 years old and a Oracle. She may be +Creative, +Determined, & +Reliable but she’s also -Naive, -Cowardly & -Stubborn.

“insublim dagiti pintam jay kwartom, kankanayon!” the man couldn’t stop the shouting, fueled by his condition (he would call it over species). he sighed a few seconds later, his eyes dropping to the paint on his foot and the floor. “this is going to stain. great.” he sighed again, looking back up at her. “honey.” he responded back, the word still felt odd, though it slipped out of his mouth so casually these days. “we need to stop being forgetful of our things.” his eyes locked on hers at the we. “can you hand me a rag and something to clean this up?”

Nova only flinched a little.It was hard sometimes being only able to understand Thai but she knew enough that it involved the paints. Nova nodded as she grabbed the rag. “I  thought I put it back with my supplies.” She looked at the stain on the rug. “They’re must be another way to do it.” She snapped her fingers. “I’m going to look it up online!!” Nova said looking for her laptop.

Vicki waved her hand. “No harm.” She looked at the book in hand before shrugging. “Just studying for nothing I guess. I’ve been reading random stuff.” She looked at the other. “And yourself?”

Being so wrapped up in her studies, she didn’t even notice the library filling with people or even someone approaching the table she was at. She was taking notes off of things she thought was important. Jumping at the whisper, she looked up. “Oh.” She looked around before nodding. “Knock your socks off.” She gestured to an empty seat.

“okay lang kami ‘toy san fran, ma. haan – ammom ‘suna.” he nearly had to kick the door open with the key hanging in the keyhole, his hands preoccupied with a one man tent and heavy duffle hanging behind him. “wun ma. addak ‘toy balay. bye. – bye ma.” he answered with a small smile. it took a few steps into the apartment for that smile to drop, paint splattered all over his foot and the floor. “ukeninayo! bwisit. nova!”

Nova was whistling as she painted. She felt like she was missing something. The blue paint! She looked at her side when she heard it. “ukeninayo! bwisit. nova!” She walked into the living room and saw the mess. “So that’s where it went...” Nova looked up and gave a sheepish smile. She knew she was going to be in trouble. “Hi, honeyyyy.”
