There were two weeks left in the school year. Realizing that he needed to pass this class to graduate, Tom felt stressed about the upcoming group project. The group partners were assigned at random which made Tom a little uneasy about the situation. Later that day in class he found out he was grouped with Sammy and Bob. Tom decided he take the lead in the group and designated roles and workloads. They agreed to save their work in the “final project” folder that Tom created. The team as a whole meshed well. Each member happened to be great contributors.

Anu Anulan and Yir’s Daughter is a story about longing for companionship, and finding love. The goodness Anu Anulan was infatuated with the slivery bright hair of Yir’s daughter. One day appearing as a crow, Anu Anulan the goodness called out to Alas saying that Anu Anulan had nothing to use to build a nest with. Feeling touched by the situation Yir’s daughter proceed to cut one of her three braids in order for Anu Anulan to build a nest to protect the eggs from freezing. The next day Anu Anulan appeared to Yir’s Daughter as a small girl who was crying. The small girl had nothing to use to weave the hair for her doll. Feeling moved again, Yir’s Daughter grabbed a knife, cut of another braid, and presented it to Anu Anulan. The third day Anu Anulan approached Yir’s Daughter as a handsome warrior. This time Anu Anulan (the handsome warrior) told Yir’s Daughter that he had nothing to wrap around the hilt of his sword. He told her that he would have no luck in battle. Once again, Yir’s Daughter was moved and cut the last braid of the silvery hair and presented it to Anu Anulan. Unfortunately that night, Anu Anulan could not seem to get comfortable and fall asleep on the prized hair. That night, Anu Anulan appeared to Yir’s Daughter as herself and found Yir’s Daughter weeping. She asked Alas why she was weeping and Alas replied because of her loneliness. Now that Yir’s Daughter no longer had bright slivery hair, all over her guest left. Leaving her to be alone. Feeling moved, Anu Anulan invited Yir’s Daughter to look at the sky together. They sat together, held hands, and ultimately built a relationship.

“I’ve got 99 problems, but a pitch ain’t one” This is a meme of Beca who is from Pitch Perfect. It relates perfectly to our reading from chapter three in Writer and Designer. The chapter explains pitch and how it is a short presentation that explains the how and the what of your idea, and how the idea may come together in your final project. During the pitch you convince the audience members who may have some stake in what you are proposing that you know what you are talking about and can take on the project at hand. I find this meme to be funny and very relatable to this concept of pitch. When choosing a genre, you honestly may have ninety-ninety problems. But once you actually know what your project idea is, a pitch really should not be one of those problems.

This article talks about the rhetorical analysis within an aspect of an essay. This is related to the reading within chapter two of the book “Writer/Designer” which talks the rhetorical analysis in regards to analyzing multimodal projects. The article talks about the purpose of the rhetorical analysis and how it breaks down different portions in order to create a primary effect. This effect is used to either persuade, or inform. Related to chapter two in our reading, both texts agree that a rhetorical analysis must explore goals such as overall intention of the text and have a specific targeted audience. This website also explains how a rhetorical analysis must examine how the rhetorician makes an argument, and whether or not the approach that has been used in a successful way which is useful.

In the book “Writer/Design”, the author explains the five different modes of communication. These modes include visual, linguistic, spatial, gestural, and aural. More in depth, I would like to analyze the gestural mode and how it applies to real life examples. Gestural modes are gestures that can show feeling and may convey messages. It can be anything from facial expressions, hand gestures, body language and interactions amongst individuals. In the Hawaiian culture, individuals will recognize one another with a brief head nod. This head gesture involves the upward movement of the head. This is the culturally acceptable way for individuals to recognize one another while passing by. In the mainland, it is culturally acceptable for individual to give a brief head nod or bow. The nod is in a sort of downward direction. This gesture is used to simply reply yes non-verbally, or even to just recognize the individual walking past you. This shows how gestural modes may different amongst different cultures or different geographical locations. Although both head gestures may mean the same thing, they are slightly different in their own way. Gestures can convey a message but it is up to the receiver in order to understand the message that is being sent with the gesture.
