Meeting Stephen Colbert
January 15th 2026 was the best day of my life and it was all because of tiktok.
After meeting one of Stephen's college friends during my tiktok livestream, she invited me to a taping with her if I could get to New York City by the 15th. Best believe I was on that plane. We went to lunch at Angelo's next door and made our way inside of the theatre. It was surreal to actually be in the theatre that I've watched so many times through both The Late Show and the Ed Sullivan Show.
During the taping, Stephen gave his friend that I was with a shoutout and told his version of the story that she told me on my stream. After the show he calls her backstage to talk. A few moments later, while I'm wandering the iconic stage he comes out and strides towards me.
"I KNOW THAT'S NOT STEPHEN TYRONE COMING TOWARDS ME RIGHT NOW." I said loud as hell.
After telling him about how I met his friend, I told him about the fan pages I run and thanked him for inspiring me in my own comedy and theatrics. After I told him I was a theatre kid, he dropped some elite ball knowledge of the Ed Sullivan Theatre. I wish I remembered every single detail about our conversation. My brain was paralyzed between bits and pieces, as if I was fading in and out of consciousness. He asked me my name twice, and repeated it back twice as if to remember it. He did the same when I told him the name of my account. He was so kind, and such a good listener. I tried to keep it classy and respectful, so I wasn't really myself. I mean yes I'm classy and respectful but that entire conversation I didn't crack a single joke. (Not that I remember at least). I could be forgetting some things. Anyways I just wanted to come on here and share that life changing experience. I hope to see him again before May, and hopefully he remembers me. To God be the glory.
