I was in the WEEDS of the Sherlock fandom back in the day in high school and the way Sally was treated by the fandom for being mean to the uwu baby grown man main character Sherlock when he was openly rude as fuck to her (making comments about her sex life while she was working etc) was weird as fuck - especially rewatching it as an adult. She’s also black, and I defs think that impacted the treatment of her unfortunately

stares into the camera with dead and tired eyes. where to fucking start!! the main reason people hate her is because she gets in the way of a straight ship :) yup :) that’s mostly it!!! but you would not BELIEVE the level of hatred people had for her. well actually you would believe it because this is such a common phenomenon but whatever. she was a relatively minor character in the earlier seasons (and only introduced in s2) and only got promoted to canon girlfriend of some guy (this is hashtag not about him!!) in s5, at which point everyone collectively decided to despise her. they cite the “reasons” for their dislike (actually these reason are more often brought up to justify why she shouldn’t be with the aforementioned guy. so they’re not even hating her in her own right!!) as: way back in the beginning of s3, she blew up a building and indirectly killed the girlfriend of the guy she would later be put with. um. however! this girlfriend was introduced very quickly and as A Girlfriend (tm), and was very clearly written to get killed off to make this guy sad. which is also misogynistic. so i don’t really gaf that she killed that woman. she vaguely betrayed the main group of characters in late s2? it’s been forever so i don’t exactly remember everything well, but the larger faction she was a part of were the ones who did the betraying, not her specifically. and also she was trapped underground getting her blood harvested for that entire season and the aforementioned betrayal was done to get her and many many many others out of the blood harvesting thing. so yeah i don’t hold that against her!! she stabbed the sister of the guy she would go on to date (in either s4 or s3 i don’t remember) and everyone thought the sister died. which understandably really upset that guy. but the two groups were i believe at war at the time!!! and it’s hot when women stab each other idc there’s also the general sentiment of her being too underwritten. which is fair tbh she is not written That well, but come on. this is the 100. literally what do you expect. and she could be so so interesting!!! sigh. apart from all of the bullshit hating, there was frequently hate in her main tag AND she was always made into an awful bitch in fics for the sake of having her bf dump her and get with the girl the fandom wanted him to. like omg it was awful.
