Kayla looked at him, lips pursed for a moment before nodding. “I know, but you grew up for me a long time ago and that wasn’t fair. Mum and Dad should have been there to raise us. They should have made time to go to your quidditch games, be there for when Luke got in trouble, to console Ethan, or maybe fucking visit me when I was at St. Mungo’s.” Kayla sighed, looking away. “I just wish you’d had a chance to be free of responsibility for once.”

“I grew up to look after you, Luke and Ethan because I wanted to help. Yeah, mum and dad should have been around but they weren’t; they’re career focused. I didn’t want everyone to be detached from everything and full of resentment for our parents.” he explained and moved his head to be in line with Kayla’s. “Responsibility isn’t a burden Kayla. I wouldn’t change anything because I have all these amazing memories with my siblings and our parents don’t. I don’t resent them, I feel sorry for them. They missed out knowing all of us and that’s their choice, but it was never going to be mine.”

“Well I guess it’s decided then” he laughed at her excitement “I can send a message home to have everything moved over by the time we leave school, unless you’d rather pick what you want”

“No, I’ll sort it out after it’s delivered. I’d rather not have to go see our parents if I don’t have to.” Kayla bounced on the balls of her feet. “Thank you, I know it’s a lot to ask to take care of me, but I promise I won’t be a burden.”

"Okay, I'll have everything moved over to the place and I'll make sure everything is ready for us when we leave school." he nodded. Nathan bent down to Kayla and held her shoulders "You're my sister and I knew you weren't happy there. You don't need to promise that, you have never been a burden to me and you never will be, okay? Stop saying that" he smiled

Nathan smiled and nodded “Yeah, if you want to”

Kayla smiled widely at her older brother and squeezed him tightly. “Of course I want to! Are you crazy?”

"Well I guess it's decided then" he laughed at her excitement "I can send a message home to have everything moved over by the time we leave school, unless you'd rather pick what you want"

“You mean I can move in with you?”

Nathan smiled and nodded “Yeah, if you want to”

“Not far. But that’s one of the things I wanted to talk to you about…”

“Well, I’m here, so talk.”

"I know you don't like being at the manor with mum and dad when the rest of us aren't there; I've got spare rooms in my new place and if you'd like, one of them can be yours for when you're not at Hogwarts.

“I know and I’m sorry, but I promise I didn’t forget. I was getting some things sent in place for after graduation but I’ve got your presents back at the dorm”
