A Thousand and One Nights as a Parable of the Promiscuous man
TLDR: In âA Thousand and One Nightsâ there is a lesson taught on how men behave when pursuing women. This story can give insight to modern dating issues among us millennial.
With a word, the prince commands women to marriage. With words the promiscuous man beds women. In conversation he says whatever necessary to get the female willing. Each sexual event taking the repetitive action of: happening, loss of maiden head (beheading), and moving on to the next one. Until Shaharazad, the woman worth talking to, arrives.
Perhaps the rarity of said woman is what causes so many males to fall into a deep infatuation with the âmodernâ successful woman. Career, fit, independent, degree, financially sound, all traits men both stereotypical and idealistically are encouraged to value in themselves. Woman who embody this âShaharazad Archetypeâ are increasing by the day.Â
However, the amount of men meeting a standard that these woman hold is shrinking by the day. By no means are standards the issue. Females having set standards for themselves is how they achieve the Shaharazad Woman. Only sensible to have these same standards for the person they intend to bind themselves with legally, spiritually, and genetically.
Men are instinctual experts at evaluating worth of the people around them in comparison to themselves. By their (men) own definition. Having identified a high value woman, by male standards, Â they become as drawn to her as the Prince. However, not very many princes out these days. This would most likely end in a completely reasonable rejection. However, her rejection is essentially a reality check. Forced to face reality: I am inadequate or she is wrong.
Letâs first address the latter due to brief explanation time. She is wrong ends with the post-cat call âaight fuck you then bitchâ or âI didnât even want you anywaysâ. Male entertains no grounds for rejection, concluding she must be sick in the head to walk away from the shitty Juice Fade, Supreme wearing, sneaker head, 5â6â stack of goodness.
The former, âI am inadequateâ. Now this has many routes it can take. Now for sake of time Iâll stick to unreasonable responses. But there are reasonable ways out of it. Brief one, âyes I am because I live my life by different standardsâ. Moving on.
There are the options of:
- Youâre lying to yourself/me - Youâre playing hard to get and I must prove myself - You chose another guy and heâs the wrong one
Youâll notice all statements begin with blame placement on the female, as do most irrational male thoughts. My hypothesis is vagina envy, but youâll have to check back for that post at a later date. Anyways, overcoming these irrationality isnât easy . Good thing there are books on it.
