Naomi let out a tired sigh as she sorted through the broken pieces. “I know I should, but I don’t. There are probably a lot of things about myself I should care about but don’t.” Passing a shard back and forth between her fingers Naomi was transfixed by the small delicate structure of it. Seemingly fragile but the tiniest slip and- The cut was barely visible upon her pink fingertips until the scarlet drops began pooling at the surface. “See nothing.”

“ No, no, you don’t need to… I mean, ‘ve got it, s’not a big deal. I just didn’t want to cause an accident over my mess… “

She was already bent down picking up the tiny shards and not clueing into the fact that her presence probably wasn’t needed or wanted. “Really, its fine. I’d rather help and besides, I don’t mind if I cut my hands.”

A soft chuckle escaped his lips. “ just a casual b-bad mood… besides now, i’ve been doing w-wonderful. ” (( that was a half lie. uncertainty about how to explain past incidents that plagued his mind )) “ how have you been, dear? i… missed seeing your smile. ” He took her hand and placed a soft kiss on her knuckle. ( nothing more than just a platonic kiss. one meant to be filled with comfort and friendship. ) 

“T-That’s great to hear.” When he wasn’t looking, she stole a longer glance at him. She couldn’t pinpoint it but he seemed slightly...off. She didn’t want to press it. If he didn’t want to tell her just yet what it was then that was fine. When his lips brushed her knuckles scarlet crept onto her cheeks. Not from butterflies, but because she seemed to always forget that some people actually cared about her and it always took her by surprise anytime that care was expressed. “Oh, right, how I’m doing uhh...” Her dark eyebrows furrowed slightly as she tried to think up a proper response to his question. It shouldn’t have been this hard. Taking her bottom lip in between her teeth she couldn’t help but think why couldn’t she be completely honest with anyone? “...I’m fine I believe. The usual I guess. Nothing big. I missed you so much. You make me feel so normal its like a drug.”

Upon hearing the voice, he instantly relaxed. It was only Naomi. It wasn’t an immediate danger to him and it wasn’t someone who would attempt to hurt him. It was only Naomi. He hasn’t seen her for some time due to their hectic lives, but she always sat in the back of his mind. (( was she doing okay? did she have a good day? is anyone causing her trouble? )) He uncleanched his fists and relaxed his stance, taking a deep breath before speaking. “ shh, naomi. it’s okay. just a bad mood, it’s not your fault. ” He reassured, a small smile on his face as he pushed his hands in his jean pockets. 

The moment his voice hit her hears Naomi let out the breath that she was holding. It was just Ricky. Oh gods just Ricky was a wonderful thing right now for her. He had a magical ability to calm her down and bring her back to reality when her head got to stormy. Or at the very least, distract her for the time being. When she looked up and meet his smile she created one to match while thinking about how what a lovely thing it was to have a friend. “Gods Ricky I feel like I haven’t seen you in ages. What have you been up to? Are you doing alright? Is it a bad bad mood or like a casual bad mood? I’m sorry that doesn’t even make any sense and I know you don’t like being put on the spot.”

yeah, and it’s how everyone who has any inkling of common sense should live.

“ Oh, I love painting the sea !! Naomi, you’re a genius, ” Alani giggled, mentally hitting herself for not thinking of that before. She grabbed the blue paint can and began working, a beautiful mural in the making. “ Would you like to help ?? ”

Naomi smiled to herself at Alani’s complement. She was already turning to leave but stopped immediately when she heard Alani’s request. “Oh of course I would love too!” Anything to do with friends was always worth while to Naomi and plus she had always secretly partook in her own artistic creations but was most usually to shy to reveal them.
