The worst part about the show, hands down, is that everything happens at the same fucking time ! A whole season is crammed in three days and fucking deal with it I guess. Writers shot themselves in the foot because then they have to make flashbacks happen when there was no time for any of that to happen ! And trying to write ff based off the og timeline is a fucking nightmare ! You want to rewrite the malec scene where they have cocktails but oh beware cuz that's the night Luke got dragged there and bled on the couch. And Clary and him are having the Circle TalkTM in the next room. You want them to hook up ? Think again because Clary is LITERALLY a door down and there's no way she wouldn't have said anything if she saw Alec SLEEPING ON THE COUCH. They just fell asleep on the same couch ? Yeah what if Clary went out just a minute to get a snack or a glass of water ?!? She wouldn't have shut up about Alec being an hypocrite and would have outed him for just fucking sleeping and Aleg knew it SO HE WOULD HAVE NEVER JUST FELL ASLEEP RIGHT NEXT TO THE RED HAIRED TERROR. But they needed to fit a malec flashback in that WHOLE ASS MESS and nobody really cares that if you follow it right Alec woke up before Clary who I guessed slept in the red room (you go Mags this is top notch design for the bigoted ex circle member you got guilted into healing for free) and left AND THEN Clary called Jace and Izzy AND NOT ALEC back at Magnus' to have a secret meeting and Magnus who just spent the night with Alec (not snuggling) just went along with it ?

And sometimes it's 'ok can I realistically make all these things happen in a two hour window to keep with the og timeline' but sometimes it's 'how am I supposed to do ANYTHING with that steaming pile of shit ?!?!'

let me just say this: it’s very rare to have a healthy lgbtq+ relationship. not even 20-30 years ago, if there was a gay character, studios tried to get it banned or would just kill off that character or some other tiresome and exhausting writing. having not only alec being proudly out but a POC character who isn’t killed or just given shit storyline after shit storyline is incredibly rare. Magnus had his own share of shit writing but show Malec works because the focus isn’t on them being gay/bi. it’s because they love each other and are trying to make the shadow world a better place to live 🗣️

one of the many funniest thing about shadowhunters show is how the “main love story” we’re fed doesn’t have any chemistry with each other but they do with anyone else. Izzy and clary have more chemistry in one episode alone than clace does for three seasons. Simon and Jace have SO MUCH chemistry. it’s one of the reasons why it’s ridiculous it was never used. can you imagine how much better the show would’ve been if bye clace, see ya never left and hello gays and lesbians arrived????? it’s one of those shows where the main characters can’t have an ounce of chemistry with each other but hey, match them up with anyone else (NEVER MALEC) and you’ve got a ship. canon of mine: clace doesn’t work in any universe. they didn’t work in the books or the movies. they are forced so heavily and that is one of the main reasons they’ll never work.

I just need it to be said (my confessions) that Alec Lightwood coming out to the clave who openly hates lgbtq+ shadowhunters and who hate shadowhunters + downworlders being together and are racist + prejudiced. while it’s popular in the show fandom, it is highly underrated as anyone coming out. imagine being in the clave, going to a wedding and then before the i do and marking runes, a famous warlock with a “reputation” walks in and Alec Lightwood says ENOUGH to his mother and takes that warlock by his lapels and kisses THAT FAMOUS WARLOCK IN FRONT OF EVERYONE!!! I’m sure their homophobic asses had a heart attack. I hope they truly never recover because i know this scene changed my life
