Seo In Guk’s charisma in The Smile Has Left Your Eyes is simply amazing. I’ve seen SIG acting as an adorkable, happy boy, as someone who seems depressed, as a lot of personas actually, but THIS. This is completely next level. Even though I, as a viewer, know that he is probably up to no good AND he can easily give you chills with his gaze alone, there is something irresistible about his character. So, lots of respect for SIG for pulling that off!

the thing about seo in guk as an actor is that his portrayal of a character is always in line with the overall tone of the drama. you know how sometimes you watch an actor and it’s like he thinks he’s in a different show? sig’s never like that. it’s like he understands not only his character and his character’s arc, but the story and how all the elements of a show—music, production, costuming, even actors cast—come together to make a whole, and the whole has a distinct aesthetic. that’s what makes him such a versatile actor, not that he takes on a bunch of different roles, but that he can inhabit the totally different worlds of those shows and seem not just not out of place, but completely at home. who else could have played louis? no one! but he’s great as mooyoung from tshlye and in reply97, too. he also seems to get along well with all his castmates, but what i like in particular is that he never overpowers a scene, even though his characters tend to have such strong and impressionable personalities. he never takes a scene away from a fellow actor. he lets the people he’s acting with have their own presence, like there’s a conscientiousness in his acting and he realizes it’s a collaborative process. and when he’s acting he’s focused on the person he’s acting opposite, not on like how he looks/comes off in a scene.
