I've been reading some HotD fics where Aemma lives and is the mother of the Targ!Towers instead of Alicent, so it got me thinking:
How would Red Falcon!Aemma parent the TargTowers?
Aegon: he'd be the heir so she'd be stricter with him and probably send him to the Vale once he gets rowdy to become a knight and is also being constantly flayed by Rhea's tongue.
Aemond: She'd explain that it was his job to protect his sisters once they were married, especially Helaena who might have to marry into the Reach or Westerlands. Aemond would be super serious about it and also have less of a complex because he's not competing with Aegon directly
Helaena: umm, she'd try to get Helaena to connect with her more and indulge her but also Naerys kind of has it so Aemma doesn't get too involved. But she loves her!
Daeron: I fear that is her favorite. She sends him to the Vale to replace Aegon who comes back a bit more put together and less likely to cause an incident. He's a perfect knight and is entrusted to be the protector of the whole family. No issues there at all *sarcastic*

Aegon4 is responsible for his own actions, but being born to a 13 year old boy and his 20 something wife, have said wife be a slave owner (whose family speciality is sex slavery, in particular), who then bailed on her kids, was never going to produce a normal person.
And Aemon and Naerys aren't normal either so... we all have our coping mechanism but some turn to religion, others to being in love with your sister and others to being henious pieces of shit. However, we do need to save Viserys, i fear, he didn't deserve all that.
If Naerys & Aemma were Aerys and Artys, together with Viserys & Daemon being Vaella & Daena:
I can see Jaehaerys still passing over Rhaenys after Aemon's death, bc he still can't stand Corlys (here, Rhaenys's kids not having the Targ surname works even more against her), sooo new plan:
Appoint Baelon as heir
Marry Baelon's girls to Daella's boys
See if either Artys or Aerys will shed the Arryn name and become legal Targaryens.
No matter how point 3 went, have the marriage agreements be that all children of these unions will have the Targaryen name from birth (he learned his lesson from Rhaenys's marrige).
Get at least one of the twins a adult dragon (That's how Aerys gets Gaelithox here, not sure if Artys can be convinced to do the same)
Putting Artys & Aerys through princely bootcamp for as long as Jaehaerys's mind holds.
Pass new laws to support all this

Rhaenys is going to blow up King's Landing, but Daena might do it first because wdym Aerys is marrying Vaella because Artys is Jon's extra heir for now. Wdym.

At the tourney Rhaegel and Aerys get dragged along to Highgarden before ditching the other three because they don't care about tourneys so now Maekar has to deal with Cordelia, Daven, Elaenora, Aelor, Aelora, Valarr, Aegon, Aerion, Daeron, Daella and Rhae all in close distance because once Naerys finally tricked everyone into visiting her. (It's the 'please don't fucking die feast lol') so he has to watch his mouth around them.
Maekar having Naerys to add to his inferiority complex. I do think he respects her talent with politics, and fully believes he wouldn't have been able to pull off what she did in the Reach (Naerys is pulling a Olenna and masterfully tying the major powers of the Reach directly to House Tyrell)
She's still his second fave sibling!
Naerys after the wife fridging, I mean, the tragic deaths of Baelor's and Maekar's wives, she locked in and half-raised Mataerys and Daella and Rhae while also dealing with the Reach politics, raising her own kids, keeping Daemon Blackfyre 2 captive and also successfully running a massive Night's Watch reputation boost campaign. And on top of that she is also their PR person. Most songs about them can be attributed to Naerys and keeping relations up with Dorne given it's slightllllyyy closer to the Reach than from KL. She's doing so much.
Maekar is very apriccative, but he also wishes that she could help with the paper work

Aerion is not being sent to party capital (Lys) for exile on Naerys's watch.
He's going to a sept in the Vale or smt and getting treated like any other septon-in-training!
Daeron gets to be in Highgarden and chill with Cordelia and Daemon Blackfyre as rumors about them being in a love triangle stir, but they're both actually Cordelia's pathetic wet cats while Naerys is honestly the one raising her kid since Cordelia married as old as possible to have him die quickly and return to bother Daven and Elaenora (be codependent with them) Aemon gets the Citadel, Aegon gets his roadtrip and Aerion is now forced to study to be a septon on the threat of sending him to the Wall if he tries to run away. Four years of good behavior mean she will let him go to Summerhall to keep studying. Failure means becoming a septon with an assignment to Yronwood which is still kind of mad about it all. Naerys is mean.
