Hannah nodded, repeating the words. “You don’t need them,” she whispered. There were so many things she wished she could say to Nadia’s parents right now. And while the smaller woman was vowing herself to not get upset, it had already sunken deep inside of Hannah. There was a hatred brewing inside of her, one that she’d only ever felt for the man she considered her sperm donor. “Tell me what to do,” she said softly. “Tell me what you need right now.”

Hannah was positive that if she clenched her teeth together any harder, they would break. She was sure that Nadia’s parents couldn’t get any worse, and then this. The pain she was seeing her fiance go through was making her shake as her throat closed up, unable to think that this was somehow her fault. Hannah was sure if her lips parted even in the slightest, she’d spew things she’d regret, so she just wrapped her arms around Nadia, trying to comfort the woman she loved and steady her own breathing. The anger was almost overwhelming and she could feel that burn of a panic attack creeping in very slowly.
