Day 4 of the Pixel Art Academy 1 Week Challenge
Followed a tutorial for a nice change of pace. This one: http://design.tutsplus.com/tutorials/how-to-create-an-isometric-pixel-art-vehicle-in-adobe-photoshop--cms-22550
Day 3 of the Pixel Art Academy 1 Week Challenge
Studied and practiced lighting a bit... then had a lot of fun with my very first animation.

Day 2 of the Pixel Art Academy 1 Week Challenge
My first practice session with perspective. One vanishing point just above the canvas here.
Day 1 of the Pixel Art Academy 1 Week Challenge
The style is that of (awesome) point-and-click The Last Door.
The writing on the wall comes from my favorite movie of all time, Kairo a.k.a. Pulse by Kiyoshi Kurosawa. It is a cry for help. Fitting for a creepy basement.
Day 7 of the Getting Started Pixel Academy Tutorial.
This time I had to do more than just recolor and tweak an existing sprite... Hence the result. :(
I clearly have a LOT to learn. ^^’
But still, this is my very first “original” pixel art (in that I used a Streets of Rage sprite as reference to draw the outline and the San Gohan drawing as reference for colors and that’s it, no pixel copying this time).
Yeah me!
Day 6 of the Getting Started Pixel Academy tutorial.
I tried modifying (mostly recoloring) Alex Kidd so he would look like the biker from Road Rash (Genesis). It is a lot harder to do than it looks, judging from the so-so result...
Oh well, practice makes perfect, they say. ^^
Day 5 of the Getting Started Pixel Art Academy tutorial.
Once I found out (in the online documentation) I could drag and drop aseprite tabs, setting up a reference was easy peasy, as was copying/recoloring a little biker I spent soooo many hours playing with as a child.

Gathering old-school sprites for day 4 of the Pixel Art Academy tutorial. Boy would I like to be able to create sprites like those. :D
From left to right, top to bottom: Evoli from Pokemon (GBC), Demon enemy from Lord of the Sword (Sega Master System), avatar from Road Rash (Genesis), avatar from Wonder Boy (Sega Master System), avatar from Alex Kidd in Miracle World (Sega Master System), Axel from Streets of Rage (Genesis), avatar from Wonder Boy in MonsterLand (Sega Master System) and Attack dog enemy from Wolfenstein 3D (PC).
Good ol’ games I grew up playing.
Day 3 of the Getting Started Pixel Art Academy tutorial.
Tried a lot of tools in Aseprite... only ended up using a few of them (paint bucket, ellipse and pixel-perfect free hand drawing) in the doodle. ^^
