Wouldn't it be great if making friends as an adult was as easy as when we were children? "I like your light-up shoes, let's be friends." While making friends as a teen/adult might seem impossible, it's not impossible. Here are a few tips to make new friends and strengthen relationships.
• Remember that you are in a very low-stakes situation: The #1 thing I hear from my friends who have asked me for advice about meeting people is that they're afraid to talk to strangers.It makes sense why humans would be anxious to talk to new people - in ancient times, incorrectly identifying another being as a friend could result in you being attacked or even killed. But our brains don't understand that the world has progressed - so you still feel that same fight or flight instinct when talking to someone new.
• The antidote to this anxiety is logic and perspective. Before you proceed, remember that you are in a very low-stakes situation. No one is going to hurt you because you told them you liked their bag. At the absolute worst case scenario, they might say "okayyyy" and look at you like you're weird. But that doesn't matter!It's so liberating to know that no one person's opinion is actually that important.
• Go outside + yap a little: The key to making new friends is a simple equation - being outside and not being afraid to show your personality and that you're open to meeting new people.
• First, find an excuse to go outside. If you're in college, look up clubs and choose one to go to.If you aren't look up volunteer opportunities near you or go to a bar, bookstore, or cafe. You need to go outside to meet people in your local community - apps like Bumble BFF are nice in theory but have the same problems as dating apps - they're too disposable.
• Then, referring to point one, don't be afraid to yap a little bit. Most people who go to a club or bar WANT to talk to people - so don't be afraid to start a conversation. Talk to as many people as possible without the expectation of a relationship building - casting a wider net gives you more choice in building your future network.

Name Her: Choose a name that resonates with the energy and essence of this new persona.
Define Her Traits: Is she bold? Creative? Unapologetically ambitious? Outline the characteristics that define her.
Visualize Her Style: How does she dress? How does she carry herself?Visualizing her can help solidify her presence in your mind.
Bringing Her to Life
Choose Her Moments: Identify specific situations where invoking your alter ego could be beneficial. Start small if it feels overwhelming
Act 'As If': Step into her shoes in these moments. Act 'as if you already possess her confidence and capabilities.
Reflect on Your Experiences: Afterward, take time to journal about the experience.What did you learn? How did it feel to see the world through her eyes?
