Being a writer is wild because one minute you’re convinced you’re a genius and the next you’re googling ‘synonyms for walk’ like you’ve never used language before.
We helped quite a few guys with Super Strength get into the construction business. I know this one Veterinarian who can speak with animals. Not everyone with superpowers wants to be out there fighting crime or robbing banks. That’s where our Job Placement Agency comes in.
Sam was really unclear on what was going on. Up to now, things had gone according to plan, but…
Super-powers kicked in? Yeah, that’d gone well. Okay, being the Empress Of All Canines wasn’t, like, the best superpower, but she’d always liked dogs. Being able to talk to them and get them to do things was pretty neat.
Create superhero identity? Check. She’d made a costume, collected up some tough dogs to be her team, and set out to Do Some Good.
Get the attention of the big superheroes? That had… well, it had started well. She’d stopped a few robberies and stuff, and then she’d seen Guarde fighting some bad guys and weighed in and…
… and two of her dogs had been killed. And it had hurt, and they’d called for her to save them, and she hadn’t been able to. It had all suddenly been so real, and she’d started to cry.
And once it was over, Guarde had dragged her halfway across the city to this shabby old building, and started banging on a door labeled ‘NO ADMITTANCE’.
Guarde sighed and pressed a cracked button on an old intercom, which looked like it should have stopped working at least twenty years ago. “Come on, I know there’s someone in there,” she said crossly. “Get your asses out here.”
Above their heads, a security camera panned down to examine them.
After another minute, the door opened, and a walking stereotype stood there, glaring. She was, like, THE grouchy old office lady, from the old-lady grey curls to the sagging cardigan to the glasses on a chain to the sour expression with a cigarette hanging out of it. Even her voice, when she spoke, sounded exactly like Sam would have guessed it would, hoarse and raspy. “Can’t you read the sign? No admittance. Especially not for your kind.” She sneered, and took a drag on the cigarette. “Get lost.”
Guarde pushed Sam forward. “Kid needs the Agency.”
Mike absolutely deserves his retirement but to me the new voice is kind of...emotionally flat and lifeless, especially compared to the old one. Maybe it's just a matter of "new thing ew" and I have to get used to it, or it's early performance weirdness, I just don't think I like it very much from what little we heard

liking a ship but disliking the distinct set of stock fanon that they have been assigned is like one of those punishments dante came up with when he wrote the worldbuilding for hell in inferno
idk if this is controversial or not, but I really like when non-professional writing like fic has hints of author bleedthrough when it comes to like, what different people assume is common knowledge. Like sometimes I’ll be reading a fic and it’ll just be obvious that the person writing it is either obsessed with medicine or has been to medical school, because they’ll use terms that are just a shade too technical without explaining them. It’s never the super specific stuff that they’d know other people are unaware of, it’s always the things that once you’ve known it for a while you forget it’s niche knowledge. It’s fun because as a fanfic reader it reminds me of how this is a fun hobby community, where everyone has their own thing going on outside of fandom. Everyone’s got their own specialties and they can’t help but write that into their work sometimes
still caring about internet friends you lost touch with years ago is so embarrassing. yeah i had a deam we met up irl recently. the last time we spoke was maybe 7-8 years ago. i still wear the laces we randomly decided was a sign of our friendship. i dont know what any of your socials are or if youre even active on any. sometimes i see someones art resemble yours and i wonder for hours. do you still go by that name you chose? whenever i see it i wonder if its you. we couldve passed each other in this vastness a thousand times and not have a clue.
i don't think people take me too serious when i say i'm legally blind. Like, guys I am legally never allowed to drive, I need assistance with a lot of stuff because I can't see. People both irl and online tend to be like "oh but you're not THAT BAD OFF" it's not a thing of whether my eyes are "that bad off" it doesn't matter, they're still blind. i still use magnifying and screen readers. i'm learning braille because my eyes are getting progressively worse and I'd like to be able to still read.
I may not be totally blind, but that's the thing, a lot of blind people AREN'T Totally blind. Blindness is a spectrum. and i don't think a lot of people realize that. And I'm just as valid in my blindness as someone on the spectrum with better eyesight than me, or someone with worse.

At Kadic Academy, on a certain fall day, prodigy mechanic Tails takes his best friend Sonic with him to explore an abandoned car factory he found near the school, hoping to find scrap materials for his robotics projects. The two of them quickly get more than they bargain for when they discover a laboratory and a computer mainframe--and once they turn that mainframe on, a seemingly digital hedgehog fascinated by their existence, trapped in a digital world called Lyoko.
But this hedgehog isn't the only thing that woke up when the computer did, and the malicious AI XANA is eager to nip the problem in the bud. A violent attack leads Tails to send Sonic into the world of Lyoko to protect their new friend, with his new roommate Knuckles and long-scorned friend Amy dragged into his wake.
A war is brewing, and the five of them, as the Knights of Lyoko, are tasked with protecting the world from XANA in a secret war, while Tails tries to materialize Maria the Hedgehog on Earth. However, as the mystery of Dr. Gerald Robotnik and "Project Eclipse" begins to unravel, Maria finds herself directly in the middle of something much bigger than any of the Knights could've imagined...
I may or may not actually end up writing this, because it'd be a huge undertaking I don't know if I have enough energy or focus for. But I do care about it a lot and have put a lot of thought into it, so I figured I'd at least share the ideas, maybe see if there's any interest. Also I can't draw so there aren't any images--
CHARACTERS:
Miles "Tails" Prower, 12 years old, 8th grade roboticist and flight sim fanatic.
Despite his young age and troubled upbringing, Tails has the mind of a scientific genius, leading him to skip a grade the moment he began attending Kadic. However, his quirkiness has left him the center of a great deal of bullying, until Sonic stood up for him one day and became his best friend. He serves as "mission control" for the rest of the Knights, the only one who knows how to operate the supercomputer. He's obsessed with the idea of Lyoko, both due to it being a technical marvel, and after seeing its animal-based avatars--as a fox therian, he believes the virtual world has the potential to give him something the real world never can.
Sonic, 15 years old, 9th grade track champion.
Sonic's spent his whole life running, bouncing from place to place, from experience to adventure, with the help of his fast feet, quick tongue, and the uncanny ability to look confident enough to belong anywhere, no matter where he is. Kadic was an accidental rest stop he planned to leave until he met and befriended Tails, and now with Lyoko, Sonic's heroic nature has begun to shine. He's the heart of the team, determined to lift up his friends and give Maria the freedom to live on Earth, but he still tends to get in over his head, and his handling of his emotions could use a good bit of work.
Roje "Knuckles" Desjours, 16 years old, 10th grade newcomer.
Knuckles is Sonic's new roommate, dragged into the first attack on Lyoko with a wayward phone call. Though he'd rather have nothing to do with it, his honor and protective nature keep bringing him back, and though he's not all that book-smart, his tactical knowledge is a strong reason no one else has gotten themselves killed yet. Though he only came to Kadic to explore his father's side of his culture, Knuckles considers his duty to be to learning about and protecting the heritage and history of the indigenous Caribbean Taino he descends from--a set of ideals conflicting with new thoughts of freedom and adventure he can't quite smother.
Amy Rose, 14 years old, 9th grade witch.
Amy's been perfectly content with being the "weird girl" with her tarot cards, incense, and sharp personality, and has a loving home to return to in the form of Vanilla and Cream. But the moment Sonic came to Kadic, she fell madly in love. They were close friends for several months, but after she wrote a poem confessing her feelings, Sonic abruptly stopped speaking to her (unbeknownst to her, more out of personal anxiety and confusion than disdain or disinterest). A desperate attempt to regain contact set off a chain reaction, and when Amy was unexpectedly targeted by XANA's attack, she became determined to help Sonic and his friends out of their bind, even if she has to drag them kicking and screaming. She's found stalwart friends in them, but she still struggles with her feelings, afraid of pushing Sonic away again.
Maria the Hedgehog, Lyoko's guardian.
An entity who awoke in a tower on Lyoko with no memory of who she was, Maria's found herself the only person with the power to stop XANA's attacks on Earth...meaning it's out for her head. Still, she's extremely resillient and endlessly curious, not to mention a genius herself, and though her life is often difficult, she's taken refuge in her new friends and the idea of living on Earth. But things don't always work out the way you expected them to, and she soon finds herself the centerpiece of a mystery that changes the nature of her existence.
Dr. Ivo Robotnik, middle-aged supergenius with too much ambition.
Shortly after the Knights first formed, Robotnik took an interest in Lyoko, declaring that it and XANA belong to him by a right he refuses to explain. He's ended up allied with the AI in an attempt to destroy the Knights, bolstering XANA's army and becoming a consistent thorn in the kids' sides, but their plans ultimately conflict, not to mention their ideas for Maria's fate. He acts on Lyoko through his artificial construct of a daughter, Sage, and is constantly tormented by a pair of pets he never planned on having.
Shadow, aimless enforcer.
Shadow is a second entity who awoke on Lyoko when it was restored, in the core with no memory of how he got there. With his remote location, Sage discovered him before the Knights did, and took him to Robotnik. He's now working as a more physical enforcer of Robotnik's, but is hardly loyal to him--he's only seeking to learn about himself and where he comes from, and Robotnik claims to be the only person on Earth who knows where to start. Shadow acts in his own self-interest, even as he's following orders, and holds a certain disdain for the Knights...perhaps even fear. How dare they be so close to Maria?
But the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Shadow's free will is a privilege--one XANA can revoke whenever it wishes.

Lead scientist on the classified Project Eclipse, a government weapons project based in Switzerland, little is known about him or its other members, aside from the fact that the project was shelved. Gerald tried to outrun his mistakes, create a safe haven with his own hands, but running only gets one so far.
