Part One Part Two Part Three Part Four
The lunch bell rang allowing Y/N to finally get up out of her seat hoping to get a little more feeling in her butt as she began to walk out of the classroom going to try to find Jughead and Toni. She didn’t have to walk too far, once she stepped out of the classroom, there the pair stood.
No one except Sweet Pea, Fangs, Jughead and herself knew that the ex-lovers had finally talked yesterday so it carried on as business as usual. Y/N didn’t get back to the Jones’ trailer till a little after dark. Of course Jughead tried hounding her about what happened after the two ditched school. After a day of finding out everyone was lying to her, she just didn’t have anymore energy to get in to it with Jughead so she did what she does best and shut him out.
She was surprised that Jughead didn’t ditched her today after she had snapped on him this morning. Y/N lightly smiled at her two friends. Jughead threw his arm around the girl’s shoulders. “I’m sorry for prying this morning. Whatever happened is between you two.” He apologized while Toni was confused at what was happening. Y/N couldn’t help but think to herself that Jughead had a lot more to be sorry for then just this morning.
After finding a quiet place, the three teenagers sat on the steps to one of the exits of Southside High. She’d like the two to think that she was listening in to their conversation by nodding every time they looked in her direction or giving them a soft “yeah” but it couldn’t have been farther from the truth. And the truth was, she couldn’t get out of her own damn head.
Ever since her conversation with Sweet Pea yesterday, Y/N still had so many unanswered questions and people who had lied to her left unconfronted like the two sitting next to her. What she couldn’t seem to stopping thinking about is how Sweet Pea answered her last question.
“What the hell took you so long to come to me?” Y/N asked Sweet Pea after the situation was explained. But there was no response right away, only silence filling the white Jeep. Y/N could feel her heartbeat getting fast the longer the silence lingered. She immediately felt stupid in holding out any hope in their relationship.
Sweet Pea couldn’t give her an answer right away, because of his own insecurities. He didn’t want to seem weak in the fact that he was scarred to come to her. Scared that Y/N wouldn’t take him back. And maybe because he couldn’t handle swallowing too much of his pride in one day. But this was his girl and he had to fight for her. “I’d like to believe that it was because I wanted to make sure that Penny was gone for good.”
He took a deep pause and breathing before putting the truth out there, “But if I’m completely honest, I was scared that I would officially lose you.”
Y/N shook her head and let out an anger breath. “So instead you let me walk around blaming myself for our break up. Letting me believe that I wasn’t good enough for you. Letting me continue to confide in the friends who have been lying to my face.” Knowing her anger was getting the best of her, she paused.
“I never wanted for any of that to happen.” Sweet Pea whispered. He cleared his throat. She ignored his words. “What you might not understand is that with all these lies I’ve been fed, it was officially over for me. The pain that you have been trying to protect yourself from feeling is everything I’ve been feeling since the night you decide not to fight for us anymore.” Sweet Pea’s eyes widened at her words. He knew they were out of anger, but he didn’t want her thinking he ever gave up on fighting for them. Quickly he started shaking his head no.
“Please don’t think that.” He whispered again.
Y/N shrugged her shoulders in response. She was emotionally drained and done with this conversation for today. “I think it’s time to go. School’s over by now so serpents should be showing up here any minute.” In the moment, Sweet Pea wasn’t sure which hurt him more, the fact that she was ending this conversation when it was just getting started or the fact that she didn’t want to be seen with him.
A loud bang and whooping pulled Y/N out of her thoughts tensing when she registered who’s voice it was. The three who were sitting on the steps stood up at the sudden loudness irrupting. Y/N felt the pair of eyes staring at her but didn’t dare meet them. “What’s going on?” Jughead asked Fangs and Sweet Pea.
Turning his gaze from Y/N, Sweet Pea looked at Jughead to answer his question. “This hellhole is officially closed! We’re done dude. No more Southside High.” Y/N’s eyebrows scrunched at her ex-boyfriend’s words not understanding why Southside was closed. Toni was the first to speak asking how.
Sweet Pea shrugged his shoulders. “They say it’s “dangerous” so its gonna be quarantined. But really who cares? We’re all apparently going to different schools.” He gazed back over to Y/N wanting to see her reaction to the news only to find her face barely showing any emotion. She really didn’t care about Southside, but hearing a different school had gotten her a little nervous.
Jughead shook his head at what he was hearing. “This doesn’t make any sense. Where are you guys going?” The pair of boys smirked at each other before Sweet Pea spoke up once again. “The same as you and Toni and Y/N and even Fangs.” Y/N finally picked her head up and caught his gaze. “We’re going to Riverdale Freaking High.” Turning her head away quickly, she groaned at what she was hearing. She’d rather take the hike to Greendale everyday then Riverdale High.
“Finally going to get to knock some Northside Heads around.” Fangs joked as him and Sweet Pea pretended to fight each other. Y/N rolled her eyes thinking about how awful things were going to be. She finally spoke up. “Great just great.” She said as she bent down to grab her bag off the step. All four pairs of eyes turned to her. “I can’t wait to start going to a school where everyone hates me because I associate myself with people who do nothing but lie to me.”
With that being said, Y/N walked away. Toni finally put the pieces together with Jughead’s apology earlier. The girl with pink hair turned to Sweet Pea. “I’m guessing you two talked?” Sweet Pea was looking at the ground with his hands in his jacket pockets slowly nodding to answer Toni’s question. “Great.”
Y/N found herself sitting in a booth at Pop’s pushing around her fries that were on her plate in front of her. She couldn’t help but be disappointed in the fact that as she was finally feeling okay after a month of hell it was all falling apart once again. Being so lost in pushing her fries around, she didn’t notice a certain Pop’s worker wait in front of her. “Hey kid.” He said trying to get her attention.
Not looking up from the plate she said, “What can I do for you FP?” FP sighed before reaching across the table stopping her hand from playing with the fries. “First, you can stop messing with perfectly good food. Next, stop giving me the cold shoulder. Then, you can pick your head up and talk to me kid.”
Quickly she retracted her hand. “I can’t talk about my problems when you are one of them.” Y/N blatantly said. She didn’t like being so rude to a man who had been like father to her but at the same time she was just so angry. And the more she thought about how angry she was, the more she wanted hit something or cry. “I don’t know who is going to kill me first my boy or you kid.”
Y/N couldn’t help but let out a soft small chuckle at Fp’s words knowing he struggled with them both. FP smiled lightly at the sound. “Talk to me Y/N.” He pleaded with her. “Don’t bottle it in.” Shrugging, she looked up at the man in his work uniform with tears in her eyes. “I’m so mad FP. I’m mad at Penny freaking Peabody, you, Jughead, Toni, Fangs, Sweet Pea and most of all I’m mad at myself.”
“You have very right to be mad at all of us but why are you mad at yourself. You didn’t do anything wrong.” FP asked confused. He couldn’t lie to himself. His own heart was breaking a little watching the young girl who was practically his daughter struggle. Y/N reached up to her face wiping some tears out of her eyes. “Because I didn’t put anything together. Because I let myself get hurt once again. I lost myself because I put my faith and trust in someone else.”
“None of that was your fault kid.” FP reached out to grab her hand again. “Believe me when I tell you none of us every wanted to lie to you. It just wasn’t our place to tell you.” He didn’t know if his words were working but he hoped that what he was going to say next would make things okay at least between them. “I’m sorry for pulling Sweet Pea in to this whole mess. If I knew things were going to go down this way, I would’ve asked someone or anyone else, but him and Tall Boy were the two I trusted the most.”
“You were just cleaning up Jughead’s mess FP. I get it. Thank you for apologizing.” Y/N sent FP a light smile turning her hand over to grasp FP’s giving his hand a light squeeze. “And thank you for letting me move in for these past few months. I promise I will to get out of your hair as soon as I can.”
FP shook his head trying to tell her that her moving out wasn’t necessary but a ring of the door to Pop’s rung and in came Jughead. Jughead looked around trying to find his dad and once he did he was slightly surprised by who was sitting in front of him. Y/N and FP noticed Jughead walking towards them causing Y/N’s face to turn emotionless. “Hey dad.” He smiled at FP. Turning his head to the girl who was like his sister, he read right away that she was closed off to him.
Jughead sighed turning to his dad, “Don’t you have to get back to work?” FP raised his eyebrows. “I can tell when I’m not wanted around boy. I’ll go cook up your usual.” The older man turned back to Y/N. She looked up at him briefly enough for him to tell you, “Play nice.”
Sitting in front of the Y/N, Jughead couldn’t help but sigh again. “So you know everything?” He asked reaching to steal a fry off her plate. Y/N looked up still with an emotionless face. “I hope I know everything Jug, because if I find out that even one of you are still lying to me I promise I’ll never talk to any of you again.” Jughead stopped shoving the fry in his mouth. His hand fell on the table at her words. “You don’t mean that.”
“What can I do to make things better Y/N?” Jughead asked with a sadness in his voice that Y/N had never heard before. She picked her head up again allowing the emotionless express to drop and a tired and sad one replaced it. “You can’t do anything Jughead. What’s done is done. I need time to process everything and figure out what I’m going to do next.”
Jughead’s face filled with confusion at her words. “What do you “next”?” He questioned her. FP walked up to the table placing Jughead’s meal down catching the girl’s words to his son and putting them with what she said to him earlier. He placed the milkshake on the table and slide the black serving tray under his arm. “Where do you plan on going kiddo?”
Y/n shrugged her shoulders looking down at her hands that pushed the dish of half eaten food towards the front of the table. Jughead’s face filled with worry. “I know you’re mad but-“
“Jughead I’m not just mad. I’m furious. I’m heartbroken. I feel betrayed by the people I’ve trusted the most. And I don’t even know which part I’m hurt about the most.” Her face turned more red as she spoke. “The fact that this is all because of you. Or that the love of my life broke my heart. Or maybe the fact that everyone has been lying to me because I’m not a serpent.”
The anger Y/N was feeling turned in to tears that began to pour out of her eyes. Jughead felt nothing but shame and guilt. He couldn’t say that he wasn’t expecting this type of reaction but he defiantly wan’t prepared for it. “I’m so sorry Y/N.” Was all he could manage to say.
FP stood silent as the two teenagers spoke back and forth. He felt like he was failing them. Both of them were sitting here heartbroken, confused and trying to handle adult issues. Another rang came from the bell on the door causing Fp to look away from the two. He saw Betty Cooper walk in and sighed.
Patting Jughead’s shoulder Fp said, “At least fix what you can boy.” Fp walked away giving a small smile as he passed Betty who was walking towards the booth Y/N and Jughead sat at. Betty noticed Y/N crying and immediately sat next to the girl wrapping an arm around her. “I thought we were smiling now Y/N?”
At the presence of a new person, Y/N began to quickly wipe her eyes try and shove her emotions away. “That was before I found out the truth.” Y/N looked up at Jughead but noticed that his eyes were wide and he was quickly shaking his head no without catching Betty’s attention. Looking over at Betty, the blonde’s face was filled with confusion. “What truth?”
Y/N smirked and let out a single chuckle when she realized that Jughead had been lying to the Cooper girl too. Quickly glancing back at Jughead, she kept the smirk. “Here’s a little tip Betty. And please hear what I’m saying and remember it.” Y/N looked back at the girl. “If you are not a serpent, you will be surrounded by lies.”
Betty’s eyebrows scrunched as she was shocked at Y/N’s words. She turned to Jughead in question when he just shrugged his shoulders. Y/N rolled her eyes watching the two interact. Reaching under the table, she grabbed her bag before saying a small excuse me to Betty. Betty removed her arm from around the girls shoulders and stood up from the booth. “Y/N-“ Jughead began but Y/N cut him off by walking away.
She reached to the counter that Fp stood behind. Fp picked his head up from the food tickets to look at her. “Does anyone who I’m currently not mad at know?” The older man nodded telling her who which caused her to groan. “You’ll know where I’ll be then.” Y/N said before turning away walking away from her problems on the Southside crossing over to the Northside.
Once she reached a familiar red door, she lightly knocked knowing it was getting late. Y/N heard someone shout an “I got it” and the door opened a few seconds after allowing a very familiar red hair enter her sight. “Y/N?” Archie breathed out.
Tears filled Y/N’s eyes instantly knowing she could let all her emotions out here. “I need a place to stay Archie.”
