Let’s see you hate this female character because she *checks notes* got in the way of your non canon mlm ship
submitting propaganda for sharon carter for a future tournament:
she did absolutely nothing wrong in the movies yet the fandom treats her like she's the devil. people blame her for STEVE kissing HER because the writers would later make him decide to go back in time to be with her aunt, but it's not like this is somehow her fault??
beyond that, sharon is steve's canon love interest from the comics, his MAIN love interest who plays a HUGE role in his story, especially in the comic run they were drawing from when they made his movies. they split all of her contributions from the comics among the other female characters instead of letting her get to shine, and the fandom will still blame HER for it? I can't find sharon carter content anywhere without seeing a dozen comments saying crap like "why was she even there" "she's gross for kissing steve" etc.
beyond that, the way emily van camp was treated as a result of the sharon hatred was HEINOUS. there was a group of fans who tried to get her to kill herself so sharon wouldn't appear in future movies. hayley atwell went around saying peggy wouldn't support steve and sharon, that they were gross, etc., fueling the fire for her fans to go and even further attack emily and sharon fans. there are countless stories from sharon fans who attended comic cons dressed as sharon and then were bullied or had to sit through panels where sharon was belittled by people like hayley atwell.
then it's like the writers catered to the hatred for her and leaned into the bitter woman scorned trope by turning her into a villain in the falcon and winter soldier.
there are even clips of the writers for the show "what if" talking about zombie steve doing disgusting things to sharon, and how no one likes sharon anyways, so it would be good.
all of this for a character who is canonically one of THE MOST IMPORTANT CHARACTERS in captain america lore.
even without bringing the comics into it, she was a great character in all her appearances in the movies. our first time meeting her, we see her jump directly into danger by running into fury's apartment, she later questions the lies shield was being fed by hydra, and then she immediately risks her life to stand against hydra once she realizes the truth (she also gets the absolutely iconic moment where one of the hydra agents says to her, "you chose the wrong side" and she says, while holding a gun to his head, "depends on where you're standing.") in civil war, she again risks her life to help steve and his friends get away and feed them information. she was amazing in all her appearances and never did anything to deserve the vehement hatred she and her fans received.

I love CA:WS. I like CA:CW. But every time I remember that Sharon should have and even was supposed to have a bigger role in them, they loses a little it in my eyes…
I understand they wanted to find a place for Natasha in the MCU after Avengers (but they didn't think to give her her own movie…), so they added her to Steve, and that might have been okay, but why couldn't CA:WS have had two important female characters? They really didn't have to cut Sharon to put Natasha in her place. They could have kept Sharon as the main female character in CA:WS and added Natasha to her. It's not that hard…
But no, they reduced her role to about 2-3 minutes of screen time in CA:WS, where she wasn't even herself for half of that time, and then they were shocked that the audience didn't love her. Why would they?
Later, Sharon was used to promote CA:CW, appearing in promotional materials in her white suit, portrayed as an active member of Team Cap, only to later discover they were inserting her, because they couldn't fully use Wanda due to character rights shared with Fox, so they were simply filling in the gaps…
And again, they were shocked that Sharon didn't love the show… WHY WOULD SHE HAVE IF YOU DIDN'T GIVE THEM A REASON?!
And then it turned out that Endgame was supposed to feature a storyline where Steve had a five-year relationship with Sharon, but they cut it and sent Steve back in time. Because, yeah.
And then they made Sharon a villain :)
I'll use my favorite analogy again: Imagine a Superman movie where Lois Lane is introduced for two minutes, they make Lucy Lane the main female character and Clark's great love interest, and then at the end it turns out Lois is actually Lex Luthor. Does that make sense? :)

its so funny whenm people share an Inspirational quote attributed to an author over a tasteful balck and white photo of them and you have read the book and are asware that the next five words in it were "said the detestable worm, evilly"
can you provide some examples. not that i don't believe you i just think it would be funny to see
i was mostly thinkinfg og a general pattern more than any specific example but the biggest one that comes to mind is this:
in context, this is not wise advice! this is the words a bunch of pranksters write in a fake love letter to someone they know is very proud and egotistical, taking advantage of that ego by using flattery to make him believe the letter is real and make a fool of himself in front of a woman who doesn't actually like him

This is a line spoken by one of the most dishonest, scheming, morally bankrupt characters in the entire play (Hamlet, so that is saying something). It’s supposed to be understood as deeply ironic.

This has gotta be my favorite Glass Believer scene. I just love everything about it. Ella is so excited to be there. Excited to be someplace where an epic battle takes place (warrior!Cinderella my beloved). When it turns out that nothing epic ever happened, it doesn't diminish her joy. She's in a beautiful place with the man she loves and she's peaceful and happy. Then Henry tells her he wants to build a house for them. For her, the woman whose home had been stolen from her. Henry wants to build for her four walls and a roof where she'll be loved and safe. To build a life with her. Then he pulls out a ring and the widest smile breaks across her face. She has to hold her breathe to keep from immediately saying "yes." And the implication of his words "like me and this lake, it doesn't come with anything else." All he has to give her his himself and he doesn't know if that's enough. But Ella doesn't see it like that. It was because of Henry that she started believing in the possibility of having an happy ending. Even when they had just he believed that she could have a better life. That she could be better. And because of that, Ella found the courage to let herself love and be loved. Henry has already given Ella more than any wish that a fairy godmother could've granted. Yet he still promises his heart to her. "Will you marry me?" Boring. Basic. Done before. "I can't offer you a legend but I can offer you my heart." Romantic. Brilliant. Incredible. Amazing. Showstopping. Spectacular. Epic. Totally unique. Completely not ever been done before. Then impatience wins in the end and all Ella wants to say is "yes."

as much as i get the sentiment behind "make more bad art" there's gotta be a better way of communicating "you don't have to be technically proficient or hold yourself to a specific standard of practice" that doesn't sound as backhanded lol
guys the magic key is to iterate
You make iterations, because you get better by doing them. I teach art and when one of my students gets dejected for 'being bad' I double-check: this is prob the first time you're [sculpting a flower] right? right. Well is the first time you played soccer, or tennis, or a musical instrument, or drove a car, also the best time you ever did? you probably got better by doing it more often.
and ofc it's not magic in the sense that you'll be perfect by next Tuesday, but as a wise person on the internet once said, the time will pass anyway.
the other secret magic part is curiosity. that is, if you're really doing the work because the material and/or subject matter are interesting, the curiosity will help you improve. if you're only doing it for likes or because you think it's where you belong because of external forces, then the intrinsic motivation won't be enough to carry you along the endless iterations.
There are many people who don’t share this sentiment, but I have an appreciation for when a fanfic is so separated from canon that it could’ve easily been its own original novel, and yet the author was only ever going to put that much energy into it if their favourite characters got to be there
I think there’s a difference between “the author stripped the media of everything it had to replace it with something easy” and “the author thought up a concept they really really like and are bestowing it upon the character like a medal”

Someone asked me a while ago if I still had a photo of the worst sink I had ever seen while apartment hunting in Los Angeles. I assumed I deleted it so I didn't answer the ask and now it's gone, but as it turns out, yes, I do still have a photo of it.
