travel man - zurich: Inhabited since the Bronze Age, Zurich was so named because everyone was too embarrassed to pronounce its Roman name, Turicum. Famous folks who have commanded the cobbles here include James Joyce, the word guy, physicist and Hall of Famer Albert Einstein, and Johanna Spyri, creator of Aryan hair hero Heidi. Switzerland has given the world Velcro, milk chocolate, cellophane, and my one-time adversary, the vegetable stock cube.

And, like his Mancunian better, he’s often depicted holding a rattle.
